Hearing Tell Me Why -- Limahl
Yesterday afternoon my brain collapsed on itself like a flan in a cupboard, and I was reduced to staring glassily and openmouthed at a bunch of videos from the 80s and scaring Athena with all the hairstyles to be found therein. However, Athena was familiar with the song "The NeverEnding Story" because it's on her Dance Dance Revolution game, and when I informed her the guy who sung it was, indeed, a guy, she was agog and refused to believe it until I showed her the video, and there he was: Limahl, in one of the definitive mullets of the 1980s. Naturally, I wonder what happened to the dude.
The answer: He's totally on MySpace, and has much better hair and a new single, no less, called "Tell Me Why," which is best described as being not unlike an Erasure tune, if Andy Bell decided to try the straight thing just for kicks and giggles. It's actually not bad, and you'll get your 80s groove on for sure (and if it really trips your purchase trigger, you can download it off of iTunes). I'm just happy to discover the guy didn't die in some horrible 80s rock cliche, like his mullet catching on fire. Sure it would have been funny. But sad too, you know?
