Hearing God in His Culture -- Anika Moa
I'm fiddling with a new service called Gabbly, which can add a chat room to your Journal (or whatever Web site you prefer). You go to the site, type in the URL of the site you want to add a chat room to, and then Gabbly takes it from there. For example, go here to see a little chat window attached to this site. AOL Journalers can also theoretically embed a chat window into an entry using the IFRAME code; I say theoretically because I just tried it over at my test journal and wasn't particularly successful in making it work. I'll have to check with Joe on this. In the meantime, however, that previous link works just fine.
Now, if you do use Gabbly to attach a chat room into your site, remember that it comes with certain risks, like people coming to visit your site and chatting like jerky jerks (i.e., saying things you wish they wouldn't and so on). Also, it doesn't look like there's a whole bunch of security there, so (for example), just because someone's ID says they're someone, doesn't mean they're really that person. Be aware. So do please be aware of the downside of this cool toy, as well as the upside.
Having said that: Chat away, you crazy kids. I'll be busy most of the day, but heck, I may pop by from time to time.

John, So you can add Gabbly to any website? In the I mean, I can put a chatbox in anyones blog? Once your link to the chat is buried in the belly of your blog, how can we access it easily again?
