Hearing Starlight -- Muse
Well, this is certainly something interesting to wake up to this morning:
British authorities said Thursday they had thwarted a terrorist plot to simultaneously blow up several aircraft heading to the U.S. using explosives smuggled in carry-on luggage. Home Secretary John Reid said 21 people had been arrested in England following a lengthy investigation, including the alleged "main players" in the plot.
Officials raised security to its highest level in Britain and banned carry-on luggage on all trans-Atlantic flights. Huge crowds formed at security barriers at London's Heathrow airport as officials searching for explosives barred nearly every form of liquid outside of baby formula.
Heathrow was closed to most flights from Europe, and British Airways canceled all its flights Thursday between the airport and points in Britain, Europe and Libya.
Yikes. Hope no one was planning to travel to or from the UK today. Likewise, additional security measures are apparently happening here in the US as well; don't plan to get on your flights today (or probably any time in the near future) with any sort of liquid or gel in your carry on bags. Also, plan a lot of extra time for your plane travel if you're going anywhere any time soon.
Does something like this make you feel nervous? Or more secure? Let me know your thoughts.

My husband and I were planning a trip to England this summer but were not able to finalize the plans. I was disappointed but hearing this news I guess it is for the best. I understand that not all the suspects were caught and that makes me nervous. However, I'm glad the plot was twarted.

Secure? I wish.. I feel glad that someone did discover and find the "main players"... Main players..what about that "other players?" I worry..I worry a lot. It makes me nervous to know there is so much evil lurking in the world today. I wish I felt more secure. Thank God that security was on their toes on this one!!

Yikes, I was just feeling comfortable about my first ever cruise from Seattle to Alaska and back, I understand tho, their security is much like security at the airports. But my high school friend Judy is coming from San Diego to Sea-Tac today, hope she has a safe flight. Linda in Washington state http://journals.aol.com/lsfp1

It makes me feel both nervous and secure. It's certainly a grim reminder of 9/11 and the fact that terrorist are still out to get us but on the other hand, gee someone is actually doing their job since these dirtbags were caught.

I was amazed at the intelligence from England to Pakistan that helped us avoid this massive death toll; ten cities and ten airplanes! Shermeen asked me to post becasue Aol members abroad are feeling the pinch and theyare relieved too if not scared!
