Hearing White and Nerdy -- Weird Al

It's Like Living in a Ren Faire -- Forever!

If you watched the Lord of the Rings movies and thought the only real problem with them is that you couldn't live in them, then pack your bags: You're moving to Oregon, where The Shire awaits you -- a planned community where all the houses will look like they've just dropped in from one of Tolkien's more pleasasnt pipe dreams, and perfect for sitting around with your hairy-footed short friends and having second breakfast or elevensies or even just a light snack before tea, or possibly for entertaining some wood elves who happen to be wandering through.

Just a warning, however: If you want live in this delightful glade, be sure to raid the dragon's stash for gold, since even the townhomes start at $577,000. Hey, this sort of rustic fantasy living doesn't come cheap!

So, interested in hobbity living?

I live in Oregon and a Hobbit Nut. We actually have a Russian village too. If you drove down the road you would swear you were in Russia or in Europe somewhere. Roads, trees, everything is built for that of course, people live there at 1 million a pop. In Oregon, 50% of everyone smokes pot, exercises, drinks coffee and loves organic. The other 50% doesn't tell anyone anything, but we wonder. The Shire idea is what rain people do over here. We have a lot of time to be creative and read.

The homes look so quaint.  Unfortunately Oregon would not be a place where my family would move.  They look clean and picturesque. I live in a subdivision and I like it.   We are looking for a condo on the water in Southern FL.  Any Ideas?

My cottage is in a planned community that's designed to look like southern Florida in the aftermath of Hurricane Andrew. Every house is rubble. It sucks when it rains, but I got the property cheap.
