Weekend Assignment #136: Your Favorite Costume

Why look, it's the cutest grim reaper ever! You can't help but laugh as she scythes your soul into the netherworld! And she's the perfect intro to this week's Weekend Assignment:

Weekend Assignment #136: What was your favorite Halloween costume ever?
Whether it was from your childhood days or something you put together for that party last year, share the costume you liked the most.

Extra Credit: Well, obviously, a picture of the costume would be lovely.

My favorite costume was the one I had in fourth grade: Darth Vader! It was sort of an improvised Darth Vader, though: I had the mask (just a regular "face-only" Halloween mask, not a full-head one), but the rest of the costume was sort of thrown together: A black shirt and dark dress pants, a fur coat for a cape (I'm not sure how I talked my mom into that) and for the piece de resistance, a broomstick for a lightsaber. It was excellent. And to give it an extra layer of "realism," all night long I did the Darth Vader wheezing sound, even when I wasn't at someone's door. Truth to tell, it drove all the other trick or treaters I was with absolutely nuts. But I liked it, and that's the most important thing. It probably wasn't the best costume I ever had, but it's the one I remember the most fondly, and that's what matters.

No pictures of the costume, though. I know. I stink. But hey, look: Cute death up there!

You're up: Share your favorite Halloween costume ever. Write it up on your blog or journal, and then come back here to leave a link! It's fun to play dress up, you know?

hey I remember when i was probably 5 I had wanted to be a chicken but since my mom couldnt buy one she made me my very own chicken costume. The hat was old fabric from a holey sheet (Oh praise the Halloween Gods I wasnt a generic ghost!) and red wood stain. The feet were made from faded old yellow plaid pot holders that were made to go over my shoes (and luckily I had smallish feet back in the day) and the body of the costume was a white shirt sewn to a pair of bleached slacks with a zipper going down the back. Hey I looked pretty cute if I do say so, and vouching for my mom when I say this, that was THE best Halloween ever! And I can safely say that I was the only chicken for miles....

If I say my favorite costume was Black Rose Katie Specks, Kate will be angry with me.  (Is there a way I can say that and not sound completely insane?)  - Karen

The best costume I ever saw was this very visibly possibly 9 month pregnant woman with a bra like top and painted her stomach like a pumpkin...that was way cool...I once went as a Gypsie...that was fun....
