Hearing Many Rivers to Cross -- The Walkmen
This is a fun Music selection for this Friday: The band The Walkmen finished their most recent album of original work and then as a sort of cooldown from that decided to cover an entire album from someone else: 1974's Pussy Cats, by Harry Nilsson. That Nilsson album is notable for having been produced by John Lennon, who was hanging out with Nilsson while he and Yoko were sorting out some issues, and has a mix of both original Nilsson tunes and cover tunes.
The original Pussy Cats was a little messy, and so is this one, but it's sure fun to listen to, and fans of Nilsson, Lennon and The Walkman should have fun with it. And now you can too, because the band is streaming the whole thing from this Web site. Rock on. Be aware the the first song, "Many Rivers to Cross," queues up as soon as you click through, so be ready for the music. Enjoy!
