I didn't know this: Scott Adams, the cartoonist behind "Dilbert," suffers from a rare brain disease called "Spasmodic Dysphonia," which literally keeps him from talking in many situations. People generally don't recover from the disease, but against all odds Adams has found a way to at least temporarily "rewire" his brain to speak again. He talks about it on his blog. A very interesting -- and very personal -- entry to read.

This is the same disorder that NPR's Diane Rehm has. She treats hers with periodic injections of botox to the affected muscles.
