Hearing Nice in Nice -- The Stranglers
Whatever side of the political aisle you sit on, you're bound to find the following fact interesting:
Of the 383 pieces of legislation that were signed into law during the two-year 109th Congress, more than one-quarter dealt with naming or renaming federal buildings and structures -- primarily post offices -- after various Americans.
The annual salary of a US Representative is $165,200, so you could say that $41,300 of your rep's annual salary went to naming post offices after Ray Charles and Karl Malden. Seems like a lot, you know? Maybe they could do it all at one time, sort of a Omnibus Naming Post Offices After Famous People Bill. And then, you know, concentrate on more pressing issues the rest of the time. Hopefully they'll take that to heart in the next session.

But, John, do you know just how hard it was to come up with 95.75 unique names that weren't involved with some scandle? I mean, that's hard work.
Heck, I think I did mor ework for my village and I on'y get $200 a month for my troubles. Throw the bums out! Oh, wait, we sort of did that.
