Hearing On the Radio -- Regina Spektor
Yes, today is Martin Luther King, Jr. Day -- and Athena's home from school to prove it -- but Saturday was the sixth annual No Pants! Subway Ride on the 6 line in New York. Oddly enough, at the same time as this event was happening, I myself was pantless in Ohio, although in my case it was because I was taking a shower, an activity for which pants are a hindrance at best. Still, I like to think I was contributing to the cause.
Be that as it may I'm confused why "don't wear pants on the Subway" day occurs in January. Most Januarys in NYC, you want to stay in your pants. But maybe that's part of the appeal. Like the Polar Bear club, only on mass transporation (and with underwear).
Saturday was also "International Make Origami That Looks Like Jedi Master Yoda" day (pdf link), which is why those instructions I linked to are in Spanish. And if you made an Origami Yoda while riding pantless on the 6 train, well, clearly you are the coolest kids in school. Well done you.
