Hearing Nothing at the moment.

I went ahead and got Windows Vista, the new Microsoft operating system, and am installing it on my PC here at Scalzi World Headquarters. So far, so good -- I'm still midway through the installation process and my computer has yet to explode. That's progress (I'm writing this on my Mac, in case you're wondering). I'm hoping the rest of the installation process is similarly unexciting. Once I've fiddled around with it I'll let you know what I think of Vista. Of course, if things go spectacularly wrong I may be scarce around here this morning. We'll have to see.

I have a wireless mouse, a couple of cordless phones, and a wireless guitar set-up. I should probably turn them all on and go outside to see if my neighbors' garage doors open.

Just for the record, I have a wireless keyboard and mouse and have no problems at all. B.

Wow, glad to see I'm not the only one who is frustrated with the wireless mouse and keyboard! I just don't get how they can beam photos back to earth from Mars, but they can't figure a way to get a wireless device to work 6 inches from the computer.

I don't have that OS, but I used to have a wireless mouse and keyboard... both of which made me want to kill someone, repeatedly.
The mouse would eat about $5 in batteries a week, and the keyboard would shut down all the time. I eventually ran out into the street and smashed it into pieces... shocking my neighbor's crack dealer, who is used to being the most violent person wherever he is at any given moment.
I now have a $6.99 Wal-Mart keyboard that the space bar doesn't really work that well on, but it enrages me less than the wireless stuff did.
