Hearing Nothing at the moment
Over the weekend, my wife and I realized that for as much as we actually hated them, we both needed cell phones; I'm going on a book tour in a couple of months and want her to be able to find me, and she does enough stuff on the road that she needs one to keep on top of things. So we went ahead and got them. The good news is that it gave me a subject for this week's photo shoot:
Your Monday Photo Shoot: show off your cell phone (provided you have one). Let put the spotlight on perhaps the quintessential technological doodad of the early 21st century.

As you can see, I still have some issues to work out with the phone. I do sort of resent cell phones, not for what they are but for what they represent: not so much that I am always connected (which is not a bad thing), but that I am never able to disconnect (which is a bad thing, in my book) -- that I am now always supposed to be reachable, even when I choose not to be ("dude, why did you turn off your cell phone?!?"). I expect I will solve this particular problem by severely limiting the number of people to which I give my cell phone number, and by -- yes -- keeping the damn thing off until and unless I decide I want to be reached. I realize, of course, that many people will think I'm being a bit silly about this. I don't mind.
Your turn: Snap your cell, post it on your blog or Web site, and then come back here to leave a link!

I don't use my cell phone very often but it gives me peace of mind to have it with me just in case something comes up. I posted a few pictures along with pictures posted for another photo challenge - the two worked well together. Hope you enjoy taking a peek.
