The Rosetta spacecraft, designed to make a soft landing on a comet a couple years from now, is currently wandering through the solar system, positioning itself for its mission. One of its stops was Mars, and as long as Rosetta was in the neighborhood, the European Space Administration, which created the spacecraft, thought it might snap a few pictures. They're lovely, and they await you here.

Hello Mr. Scalzi,
This picture of Mars looks like it should be melted down and turned into a fine jewel on a necklace with the pretty blue color and all. I think this is beautiful. Thanks for sharing this. -
Look at the fjords! It's proof that Vikings are from Mars and Valkyries are from Venus.
