Hearing Nothing at the moment
Dig this: Ten Photos Taken at the Right Moment. The very first one you see is a stunner, and no doubt hurt on the way down. Indeed, ina lot of these photos it's better to be the one taking the picture than the one who is in the picture.

I don't know about those. I suspect the one of the surfer and the shark is a photoshop job. Some of them are from professional photographers, and are most likely the result of a camera with a motordrive firing off about 15 shots in a ten second timespan. Easy to catch the right moment when you are actually catching *every* moment. And the lightning one, well every good photographer has one of those in his portfolio. You catch it by setting the camera on the tripod, opening the shutter, and waiting until lightning strikes. That one is most probably a thirty second or longer exposure, not an instantaneous snap.
