Hearing Disembodied Voices -- Finn Brothers
You south Floridians must be proud:
For the second consecutive year, rude Miami drivers have earned the city the title of worst road rage in a survey released Tuesday.
Miami motorists said they saw other drivers slam on their brakes, run red lights and talk on cell phones, according to AutoVantage, a Connecticut-based automobile membership club offering travel services and roadside assistance.
Other cities near the top of the rude drivers list were New York, Boston, Los Angeles and Washington, D.C.
You know, I just drove in LA and DC, and I have to say that LA was just fine to drive in -- it was slow, because everyone drives everywhere, but most people were not acting notable rude (the exception: BMW drivers, all of whom might as well have "Jerkwad" blinking above their heads in neon letters). DC, on the other hand, is a friggin' nightmare. If Miami is worse than DC, I never want to go there, ever.
My metropolitan area (Dayton-Cincinnati) has middlin' decent drivers, excepting that fact that apparently in Ohio, using your turn signal is a sign of weakness. Man, I hate that.

Jacky came to Boston well-prepared.

Hi John, sorry for offtopic but i can not comment somehow your entry about russian version of your book. So i just came here to say thanks to you for creating such a great books - Old Man's War and Ghost Brigades. I just read them and i'd like to say shat they are ones of best books i read for a long time. And i do read a lot of science fiction, believe me. I think that best moment in them both is the part in Old Man's War when hero was actually old. That part helped me to understand old people a bit more. And, of course, heroic parts of the books are always interesting to read and have some nice set of humor and drama. btw i am from Ukraine and i will try to spread knowing about your books between everyone i know.

Miami teaches you not to use turn signals if you want to get anywhere without being cut-off... unfortunately there you can't get anywhere without driving... public transport = non-existant
Jacky - a Cuban in Boston =)

If Boston had Cubans, we'd be #1 with a bullet.

I mean, there's a big difference between running red lights and trying to turn your favorite bar into a drive-thru.
