Hearing Lotus -- Minus the Bear
If you've been following the Michael Vick dogfighting case and have been a little confused about the details of the case against the Atlanta Falcons QB, ESPN has an excellent wrap-up of everything about it from a legal point of view, written by Lester Munson, who is a lawyer as well as a journalist. The short story is, Vick's almost certain to head to the slammer for at least 18 months, maybe longer.
Can't say I have much sympathy for the man. Someone who hangs and drowns dogs because they don't attack and kill other dogs efficiently enough is not someone I'll regret having to spend some time behind bars. I hope Vick enjoyed his career in football; it's over now, and it didn't have to be, but for this pathetic side enthusiasm of his.

BTW, shelters around the country are getting large donations of Vick jerseys from ex-fans, which are being put to use (as all donated clothes are) to clean and line the kennels.

Hi John
I think 18 months is way too little time behind bars for this "man." I don't understand why there aren't stiffer sentences for those who harm innocent creatures. Sigh. I think David Letterman said it best earlier this evening, when he said, "shouldn't it be 18 months times 7?" Honestly, how can that much greed and cruelty live in one body? Sad...very, very sad. :(

I want to cover him with cheese spread and throw him in to the fight

I really don't understand the appeal of dog fighting to the thug community. I think the thing that annoys me the most about Vick is that through this all, he has not shown one single shred of remorse.
And, you're right, his career is over. Not even the Raiders will touch him. After all, he's not just an embarrassment to the NFL, he's an embarrassment to humanity.

I really hope that the investigation continues and that they find the rest of the dog fighting facilities that Vick traveled to.
