Hearing Big Shot -- English Beat
This is a photo shoot to take you back, maybe just a little:
Your Monday Photo Shoot: Take a picture of something in your house you used to use a lot, but now hardly use at all. This could be a piece of obsolete technology, or possibly some equipment for a hobby you no longer pursue, or just something you stopped fiddling with for no good reason at all -- the basic idea is simply to highlight something that no longer has that much use for you, for whatever reason.
This is mine:

This is a stereo I bought shortly after I start my first job after college, which means that it's almost exactly 16 years old. I paid $400 for it, mostly for the then-very cool 5-CD changer. I never got rid of it because it never stopped working, and why buy something new if something old keeps working. It still works now. I got my $400 out of it, that's for sure.
That said, I can't actually remember the last time I played a CD in it, and as for the tapes -- well, I don't even know where any of my old tapes would be. The last time I know I used the stereo at all was about 18 months ago, and you know what I did? I connected my laptop to it, turned on my Rhapsody streaming music account, and played some dinner music off of it. Since then, nothing. I listen to all my music off the computer or TV or one of my portable music players now. The only time we use CDs at all is in the car.
So why haven't we gotten rid of the stereo? Well, you know. It still works. And one day we might use it again. Until then, as you can see, it props up the candles quite admirably.
You're up: Take a picture of some thing in your life you don't use any more but still have in the house. Then post the picture in your blog or journal, and come back here to leave a link!

I hope I did that right. Been busy and have not been journaling lately. See what digital technology can do to you. I still love my Nikon. -

John, thanks to you, I may take up the CHALLENGE of using my "obsolete paraphernalia!" AGAIN tomorrow morning! Today's 31-min. aerobics on it gave me newly found energy all day at work... Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
