Hearing Last to Die -- Bruce Springsteen
Here's a moving account of someone's last day of life -- chosen by that person through Oregon's unique Death With Dignity Act, which allows terminally ill people to voluntarily end their own lives. One can approve of this or not -- there are lots of people in both camps -- but what's interesting is how this particular person chose to live that very last day.
In some ways I find it inspiring; I don't know I would end my own life this way, but what I do know is that it's not the length of one's life, but what one does with it that matters. This person seems to have been able to leave it with contentment, which suggest a life lived well.

Reminds me of Dr. Pausch's Last Lecture! That was in our daily newspaper also recently & I'm getting so many comments back on it!

The wanting "to be in control", having
a last deadly cigarette in defiance, her FU
to the tobacco companies, her relishing
being observed killing herself, and the
assembly of relatives and friends, all
that together strongly suggests madness,
giving one's finger to planet Earth, an
insult to every religion on earth, and just
more of being a loner in a library. What
a wicked woman!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yuch.
[Another Point: That degree of selfishness shows
intense hostility.]
