Hearing Nothing at the moment
Last week's Weekend Assignment asked people to share when they started getting into the holiday season -- regardless of when the stores start putting up their decorations. The polls are in:
"What happened to the days when the start of the Christmas season was marked by the appearance of Santa at the end of the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade?"
December 15, for a particular reason
"As far as I'm concerned, the holiday season begins with Thanksgiving Day, because that's one of 'the holidays.' (Once as a kid I explored the idea of Halloween being one of 'the holidays,' but I was overruled.) "
"I don't know why but I got up Thanksgiving morning and started to put out some Christmas stuff."
"We start Christmas the first weekend in December."
"In our house, the 'holiday season' begins on the first day of autumn."
"Holiday season? Did Scalzi mean shopping and gifts or did he mean celebrating? That is the problem that I have with this week's assignment!"
"Here under the Big Top, the Christmas holidays pretty much start after the warm fuzzies of Thanksgiving."
Thanks to everyone who put in their thoughts! I hope whenever your holidays start, that they are good ones.
