Weekend Assignment #16: The League Of SuperJournalers!

It's a bird -- it's a plane -- it's the Weekend Assignment! Yes, the Weekend Assignment: Defender of justice and peace in the AOL-J, in which I suggest a topic, you write about it in your own Journal or blog, and then return to leave a link in the comments!

With an intro like that, you can pretty much figure that this week's Weekend Assignment has to do with superheroes. And you'd be right!

Weekend Assignment #16: Create a brand-new Superhero secret identity for yourself, based on your personality and proclivities -- and make sure to list at least one "super power" that relates to a special talent you have. Now, to be clear, this "super power" shouldn't actually be a super power, like the ability to fly or shoot lasers from your eyes (unless you can actually do that). No, we're just talking about naming a "talent" you have, in superhero terms. So, for example, if you're really good at finding bargains, you could say you have Super Shopping Senses -- "Oooh! My shopping sense is tingling! Something in this aisle is on sale!!!!" Like that.

Extra Credit: Oh, all right, fine: If you could have one genuine, honest-to-goodness super power, what one would you want and why?

Got it? Groovy. And now, without further ado, my own Secret Superhero Identity:

I'm Bar Bet Man! Yes, Bar Bet Man! Provided with an almanac at an all-too-early age, I grew toward manhood filled with useless facts and information. And now, with my amazing Power Of Recall of Pointless Information, I stand ready whenever there's a bar bet that needs to be settled, but no handy reference materials with which to answer the bet! Gasp as I reel off the spectral class of the sun (G2!). Thrill as I non-chalantly identify the root of the word 'Xenophobe' (it's from the Greek, meaning "one who fears strangers!")! Cheer as I come up with the name of the play at which Abe Lincoln was assassinated (Our American Cousin) right off the top of my head! No topic is too big, no bar bet too small, for Bar Bet Man!

Extra Credit: If I could have any superpower, I'd like to fly. I mean, really. Talk about making your commute easier. Although I suspect that unlike Superman, I'd really want to wear a helmet; really, who wants to eat a bug.

Reveal your Superhero Identity now! Write it up in your journal, and leave a link. I'm ready to marvel at your super powers!
