Hearing The Entertainer -- Morton Gunnar Larsen

Your Random Mix, 2004

So last year I did this, and it was fun, and now I want to do it again. So:

1. Open up the music player on your computer (if you have one -- the music player, I mean. Clearly you have a computer, because otherwise you couldn't read this).

2. Set it to play your entire music collection.

3. Hit the "shuffle" command.

4. Tell us the title of the next ten songs that show up (with their musicians), no matter how embarassing. That's right, no skipping that Carpenters tune that will totally destroy your hip credibility. It's time for total musical honesty. You can put the list in the comment thread, or write it up in your Journal and then post a link in the comments.

In the spirit of sharing, I'll go first:

1. "Space Boogie" -- Jeff Beck
2. "I Will Never Be The Same" -- Melissa Etheridge
3. "Howlin' For My Darlin" -- Howlin' Wolf
4. "You Will Find Love Again" -- Shelby
5. "Don't Leave Me This Way" -- The Communards
6. "Count Zero" -- Stuart Hamm
7. "Everybody's Talkin'" -- Alison Brown
8. "Parachutes" -- Coldplay
9. "In the Jailhouse Now" -- O Brother, Where Art Thou? Soundtrack
10. "Antenna" -- The Church

Whew! Made it through without anything too embarrassing, which is unusual, since I have a lot of embarrassing music in my collection. No, I won't tell you what music is embarrassing. I don't have to. It didn't come up randomly.

Oh, all right. I'll do another ten and see if anything really embarrassing shows up there:

1. "Hospitalische Kinder/Engel Der Vernichtung" -- Einsturzende Neubauten
2. "Lonely Woman" - Horace Silver
3. "The Empty Bullring" - Kate Bush
4. "Skullcrusher Mountain" - Jonathan Coulton
5. "No Surrender" -- Bruce Springsteen
6. "Everyday I Write the Book" -- Elvis Costello
7. "Fates Warning" -- Iron Maiden
8. "Half Breed" -- Cher (bing!)
9. "Jacob's Ladder" -- Rush
10. "Have You Heard" -- John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers

Yeah, Cher. Sandwiched between Iron Maiden and Rush, no less. If nothing else, my collection is eclectic.

Your turn. What shows up on your random shuffle? Be honest, now.
