Biodiesel! And Other Stuff

Hey, kids! Let's get random!

* A story on biodiesel, a fuel for cars that can be made out of agricultural products, up to and including used vegetable oil. The story opens with a car running on soybean oil, which will no doubt please my neighbors, who plant soybeans. I'm pleased to, since as I said before, ultimately I'd rather have my gas money go next door than overseas.

* Michigan stuffs Ohio, wins the Big Ten and kills Ohio's slim chances for a repeat as national champs. My entire interest in this game was limited to the thought "Crap, Ohio State lost, now the entire state is going to be on meds for a week." Being a native southern Californian, I was rather more interested in the USC-UCLA game. Not a USC fan, but you know, better them be national champs than Oklahoma. Okay, Sooner fans, start your abuse... now.

* Sure, humans have been pretty good at wiping out species here on earth, going back to the Woolly Mammoth days, but if you really want to turn the Circle of Life into a shattered, fragmented arc, you need a meteor. Meteors are already credited for wiping out the dinosaurs, as most of you know, but now comes new evidence that a meteor was also responsible for wiping out 90% of life 250 million years ago as well -- ironically opening the door for the dinosaurs to become dominant. So it's probably the case that meteors are the bookends to the Reign of the Lizards. And don't get cocky, since the meteor that wiped out the dinosaurs allowed the mammals to take the pole position. You just know the cockroaches are impatiently waiting for the next meteor hit for their big chance,

"John: Why no love for OU?"

Well, I don't *hate* the Sooners, you know. But I do have some residual California allegiance.

Had to laugh at the comment about the whole state of Ohio being on meds for a week after that UM loss. It is so true. I have only lived in Ohio for 2 years and I can't believe how into it folks are about college football. I lived in Utah for 7 years. In Utah the sidewalks get rolled up on Sundays, much in the same way the sidewalks get rolled up in Ohio on game days.

OKay, three (3) posts to express a couple of thoughts, pretty sad. "Book of the Dumb" not "Book of Stupidity". My bad.

John: (Stupid 500 character limit) Oh, and it has been sometime since I last visited your site so I was pleasantly suprised to learn about your "Book of Stupidity" and "By The Way. . ." Here I thought I would have to be satisfied with the "Whatever" and I find that there are Scazli witticisms all over the place. Way to go, DUDE!!

John: Why no love for OU? I mean, you aren't exactly Lupica (boy did he tick off people around here) and I don't really mind as I am an OSU fan (not, THAT OSU - Oklahoma State University) and I don't have a lot of love for the Sooners myself but I am curious.
