Okay folks, as the subject says, this isn't an entry where I will talk
about the 728x90 banner ads on Journals. I will post an entry a little
later this afternoon.
Right now, I just wanted you to be aware that I am reading your comments and I'm not trying to duck your questions, it's just that there is very little I can do about it personally at the moment (other than pass your feedback up the chain of command, not off to some e-mail dumping grounds). However, what I have been doing is to trying to get the save entry problems fixed.
I got a comment from randlprysock, where she describes a procedure using the AOL System Information utility to clear her cache, footprints and rebuild the AOL Adapter. Here is her blog entry: http://journals.aol.com/randlprysock/AdventuresFromFlorida/entries/1255
Since the procedure listed involves multiple steps, some that we've mentioned before (clearing cache), some that we haven't (clearing footprint and rebuilding the AOL Adapter) as well as rebooting the computer, we can't be precisely sure which of the steps is the one that does the trick (if it indeed does the trick).
If you try the listed procedures, it would be helpful if you can let us know if it worked for you or not.
As noted, I will talk about the ads in another entry later today. Thanks -- Joe

As of right now, I am in the third day of having to use MIE to get to the AOL.com page and then post to my journal. The 'cancel' icon works just fine. The 'save' icon still is out of order. argh.

Bi48clover,
I don't want anyone that visits my journal to see advertising either, especially for companies I disagree with. Your suggestion doesn't address the route issue.

Joe, we just wanted to thank you again for your invaluable help yesterday. You were forced to endure a lot of misdirected criticism (a position that Mal has personally been in) and it had to have been at least a tad uncomfortable. There are those of us who understand that you personally were not responsible for this ill-advised mess, and we want you to know that. We would just like you to pass along to the corporate honchos that J-land is not happy about this state of affairs. It is disrespectful and an affront to those of us who are subscribers.Thanx.
Those of you who have Symantec's product installed on your PC do not see the ads, we have discovered, so if you don't like having to endure viewing them, you might consider their firewall and anti-virus programs.
Bon & Mal -
Nothing works as far as anything to do with any and all of these journals of mine..i cannot add entrys or save them so this is a useless place to be of..seems kind of stupid that we as journalers must try and fix all things that you of the higher uppers so enlisted inside of these propertys of ours to make them all as useless to us unless we go all around in circles just over trying to correct these problems that you as the very people that you all are put there to begin with..and only why and if only..but then who inside of that place of yours even cares..for now we are locked out of this place of ours called journal land.

1) Sign off, close AOL
2) click START button, click ALL PROGRAMS
3) select AMERICA ON LINE
4) click AOL SYSTEM INFORMATION
5) click UTILITIES tab
6) click REBUILD AOL ADAPTER button (it instantly rebuilds itself)
7) click CLOSE button
8) RESTART computer
In less than a couple minutes everything worked the way it used to ... except for the ads. We've added our own disclaimer to each new post:
...(Banner advertising at the top is not endorsed by us nor do we receive any compensation for it. AOL recently bought Weblogs, Inc. and obviously has millions in bills to pay.)
