Home Improvement Therapy

I saw this article over the weekend in the Washington Post, about do-it-yourselfers who blog about their home improvement projects. (This was as I was studiously avoiding doing anything that remotely resembled a home improvement project.)

It's not exactly shocking news to us, but as with any kind of sequential project, blogs are tailor-made for chronicling redecorating, remodeling, repairs and any other home improvement project, big or small.

Part of that is strictly due to the mechanics of blogs: The new stuff goes on top; you can follow along in the archives; it's easy to post pictures to track progress (or setbacks, as the case may be); and it's easy to stay on top of updates with alerts and feeds.

The other advantage of blogging about your home-improvement projects is that sense of community-building that comes with blogs. Not only do you hear from people sharing their own home improvement triumphs and nightmares, but there are also those comments from the peanut gallery, of people who come by just to watch.

For those folks, the article calls it "house porn" -- for me, it's always "research for future projects."

Anyway, if you've got your own home improvement project blog that you'd like to share, leave the address in the comments for me (and everybody else, including your fellow DIYers) to see.

Thanks -- Joe

This is the biggest scam that the crooks at AOL has even done When you tell some one to do there best or make a deal with a hand shake ,then do everything possible to destory them do you rate that as a business deal .In all my years in business you are by far the biggest crook that I have had to do anything with. When AND if you were in the dark well your employees were having a great time when one tells you that they have proof and witness that your employees was sharing and hacking my account,But your Company let others open over 70 accounts under my phone line and all you would say that I viliated a toss and cut my service,Find its your business and you destory mine and if you think I'm going to let this lay your in for a big surprize.Your business and stock holders will be sued and I will share my information to all other business associates just how you do business let me tell you now no matter what you say your not above the law.

My journal is a photoblog I started to compliment my hosting for AOL's Home area.  I have continued after AOL retired the CL program.  My blog, I have featured projects people send to me. I feature authors, professionals who have also contribute entries.  Check it out :).

My blog isn't devoted to one home improvement project; it covers a lot of territory.  It might be helpful though: http://journals.aol.com/pagadan/JoysJournal/entries/1765

You must have been reading my blog.  We are currently remodeling 4 rooms and I have been journalling about it.  It is complete chaos.
