Hearing Moby, The Sky Is Broken
So a few folks have been pinging me lately about the upcoming AOL Journals Three-Year Anniversary. (Like I would forget.)
The official launch date for AOL Journals was August 21, 2003 (Journals went beta July 29, 2003).
As in previous years, Journalers are self-organizing around the anniversary date -- since it's really all about you guys, I try to stay out of the way, and just support what you guys do by highlighting your efforts and procuring the occasional updated AOL Journals 3-Year Anniversary badge graphic:
I published it to the AOL art servers, so you can even hotlink the image with no problem.
Here's the HTML, if you want to copy-and-paste it (make sure you're in HTML mode):
<img alt="AOL Journals 3-Year Anniversary Badge"
src="http://cdn.digitalcity.com/blogs/aol-journals-3-year-badge-154x168.gif" width=154 height=168>
Other than that, it's all in your hands.
Here's what Viviansullinwank has to say; as she notes, this is an all-inclusive celebration, so it doesn't matter if you've been Journaling for 3 years or 3 days -- join in the fun.
Onestrangecat is another one of the instigators, check out her entry.
Sugarsweet056 is working on a pet memorial page for Journalers who have lost pets over the past year.
Also, Nightmaremom has some snaggable anniversary graphics you might be interested in.
I know there are more entries that I've missed. Here's a suggestion so that everyone can find each others' anniversary postings -- tag your anniversary entries with something like AOL Journals Anniversary.
This will be the second entry in a row that I've pitched tagging, but by tagging your entries, you label them for the blog search, and clicking the tag shows you other entries that also share that tag.
To tag your entries, you can use the Tagging Beta, or just copy and paste the following code (again, making sure that you're in HTML editing mode -- the pulldown in the formatting toolbar says "HTML", instead of "Text"):
Tag: <a href="http://technorati.com/tag/aol+journals+anniversary" rel="tag">AOL Journals Anniversary</a>
[Addendum: Note that tagging works on older entries, too -- you can tag something after you first publish it. It might not get picked up immediately, but it should still get picked up.]
Thanks, and have a great weekend everyone.

Stray -- I'm sorry if you don't like the way I'm featuring blogs, Journals and Journalers. I will try to address this and other issues in an upcoming post. Thanks -- Joe

Hey Joe,
That's an awesome graphic, kudos to Jason! I added my input and recap of the developments AOLJ has made. Feel free to check it out.

I think you guys have done a wonderful job. You may think I am not hard to please, but I am...and I enjoy all the journals you mentioned. I think they are doing a good thing. We get to mingle, explore, maybe learn a few things in the process of our visits to others journals. I think we the people writing these journals need to get out more. I have a tendency to stay with my safe people..lol and I forget to put myself out there..so you have not blown anything. Good day...I said good day...lol take care,
Dwana
