Help Find the Charm Bracelet of Ruthe (with an e)

So let's see what the collective wisdom of the Internet can come up with: Yesterday, I was listening to NPR's All Things Considered, where commentator Bob Greene told of an Iowa woman, Mary Christiansen (not sure about the spelling), who's trying to find the owner of a charm bracelet that she accidentally aquired 20 years ago.

In May, 1987, Mary was flying back from London; somewhere along the line, most likely at the British Airways baggage search at Heathrow Airport, someone else's sliver charm bracelet made it into her bag.

After 20 years and several moves, she still has the bracelet, and she wants to get it back to the owner.

Here are the facts about the charm bracelet:
  • It has about 20 or so charms on it.
  • The charms include:
    - a clover
    - praying hands
    - a piano
    - a trolley
  • Also, there's a heart charm inscribed with "Bob Loves Ruthe"
  • In addition, there's a girl's profile charm, inscribed "Marcy, January 25, 1972"
  • There's also a boy's profile charm inscribed "Mark, July 2, 1974"
  • Not sure about the spelling of Marcy or Mark -- they didn't spell it out on air.
That's hopefully enough information to go on.

If you think you know someone who may know who Bob, Ruthe (with an e), Marcy or Mark, tell them to contact NPR at http://www.npr.org/contact/, and describe some of the other charms not mentioned on-air.

If you do a blog entry about it, I'm going to take a page from blogger Hayden Foster at Lyric Flight
(I found her blog entry after searching for the phrase "ruthe with an e") and suggest you tag your entry with the tag

It will be interesting to see if it works or not, and if so, how.

Thanks -- Joe

I have thee same charms on mine, but not the rest of those.  At first, I was thinking that the E could have stood for a middle or last name, but seemingly not.  It'd be rather neat if the owner is located:)
