Things I Don't Want to Deal With Right Now (Yet I Must)

Hi folks -- here are a couple of things going on, only one of which really affects you:

* I'm getting reports that some people aren't getting their Journals New Entry/Comment Added Alerts. I let the Alerts team know, and as I was editing this entry, John told me that they found a problem with one of the back-end Alerts servers that affected some users (less than 6% of all users).

Some of the affected folks should be getting Alerts normally now, and they're working on fixing everyone else.

* Over here at AOL corporate, we're in the process of switching over to a new e-mail system. Previously, everyone used AOL Mail (client mail and Webmail) for their primary business screen name; now, we're switching over to a fairly standard corporate ("enterprise") e-mail/scheduling/contact management solution.

Back in the day, some folks had some pretty goofy screen names as their main business screen names, which is a bit of personality you don't (& won't ) really see any more.

But anyway, the e-mail migration is a big hassle, especially for those of us with big archives and subscribed to lots of listserves and such.

However, most of us need to run the AOL client anyway (or a combination of AIM and AOL's browser-based services, which is pretty much everything except chat right now), and some of us also use other, different screen names for different things (like this one), so for me, that means yet another program open on my overtaxed machine, which would explain the wailing and keening noises that occasionally emit from it.

Anyway, this journalseditor@aol.com address isn't going anywhere, so feel free to keep using it.

Thanks -- Joe

Thanks for checking out my journal, Joe, when I was having editing problems. It did clear up, for whatever reason, and all is well. I guess if I had waited a couple of days, I would have been no worse off than I was when I complained.... sorry, guess I panicked! I do appreciate that you came by to see what the problem was, even so. Keep up the good work. bea

Hrm. I think you're reading a bit too far into things.

Though the e-mail migration thing is definitely a pain, since it will change how I work. -- Joe

    Pathetic?  Not at all.

Do you come across as fed up or p***ed off?  Definitely.

Perhaps I'm reading too far into things, but you used to come across as having a whole heap of fun doing this blog with all sorts of great information woven in a fun and entertaining way.  Now, the timbre of your entries seems to reflect a sense of tedious corporate obligation.

Personally, this sounds like a job for Hello Kitty.  Just remember to have fun.

    I don't sound that pathetic, do I? -- Joe
