Feeling Happy
It is finally finished...
I am an official graduate!! After finishing classes in August of 2006, I have finally received my diploma from Birmingham School of Law. It seemed silly to me to go thru the ceremony after being finished with school so long ago, but Bill insisted that I go thru it. I deserved it and better yet, he deserved it.
This has been a long 4 1/2 years....all those years taken from my family, not attending events because I had to study, yes I guess we all needed to celebrate.

Graduation was at 2pm today, May 20th in the Wright Hall on Samford University Campus. Bill will have more pics of the day coming up soon but these are all I have right now. Billy enjoy the day and the night before also. He got to be a grown boy and attend the "fancy" dinner at "The Club" atop Red Mountain in Birmingham.

I did not have any top-of-the-class honors, but was able to wear (which you can't see in this pic) a yellow tassle which was to show my induction into the honors society SDK. Top-of-the-class would have taken many more hours away from Billy and Bill and I was not really willing to give those up. I am content just getting thru it all.
Thanks so much to all of my family and friends...for supporting me, telling me that I could do it - even though I did not think I could. Also...thanks for staying here with me. I have been a complete wreak these past four years and a nervous mess. I lost some friends...but the ones that mattered stuck with me. I owe you all so much!!
love....Joy

Feeling Happy
My starving artist..
Bill and I have had a chance to spend more time with Michele lately. It has been really nice to see what is going on in her life now. After all, she will be 21 tomorrow and I need to find out what she is into <g>. Yesterday I went to visit her as she was getting ready to open an art gallery in downtown Northport. I have posted a few pics of the gallery and her art work.
She has moved into her own apartment in Tuscaloosa and is having a blast! Makes me kinda long for those college days...but only until I look at her refrigerator and see the two items she has in there to eat and hear her tales of getting a bike to ride to work when there is no gas money.
We are very proud of her though...she seems to be making it and is doing what makes her happy. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MICHELE!!! We love you. We will be there on Sat with your present in hand.
Now...other news! I am finished with four 1/2 years of graduate school thank god. Graduated on August 16th with a Juris Docturate and now I dont know what to do with it. LOL. My next step will be the Bar Exam which I take in February but am still looking for work to keep me busy until then.

Feeling Ecstatic
Just a few more weeks!!!!!
Ok...so counting finals it is actually four weeks but dont mess with me! It seems like three ok? The pictures above are friends that have just recently gone before me. I will be finished with school on August 17th and I am soooo relieved!! My thoughts rite now are with these friends that have already graduated because starting Monday morning, they will be going thru something more gruling than school itself--the State Bar exam!
Someone sent me an email today ...wanting to know why I have stopped posting to my blog. The reason is, I am so close rite now to graduating that too many things are taking up any free time I have. Not to worry...here soon I will have too much time on my hands because I will be outof school and UNEMPLOYED!!
Bill is hanging in there...probably counting the days like i am. He has been a single parent for far too long and really deserves a break. My first order of business is to remind him that he is no longer totally respondible for everything- the send him on a vacation. A golf trip may be in order (r u listening Dodd and Prince??)
Next I must get back to the business of connecting with my family members. I owe my sister a lunch or two! Next, I need to take care of my older kids..Michele and Mike. Michele is moving into a new home all by herself and I really need to go help her. She will be on her own now at the University of Alabama - I think some of her former roommates have already graduated. Her steady boyfriend, (last I heard) is in europe and not there to help her move. Hang on Michele...I will come help u get settled soon!! Mike just needs to call his mom...<g>
Have a good evening everyone...

Feeling Surprised
Bill's latest project
Yes...believe it or not...Bill has been busy with another "house project". (I know Jim...you have just fainted!) He has been putting in alot of time and sweat on this one- getting the back patio cleaned off and the fountain cleaned up and running again.
His last project was to get a tree house built for Billy and as you can see in the pic, it is still standing but has not been painted. The painting was really suppose to be billy's part and between school and scouts he has not had time.
This latest work is completed and has made it very comfortable and relaxing to sit out on the back patio. Because there is no cover, the heat-of-the-day is not the best time to enjoy it, but late afternoons are nice. It gets Bill out to the grill more often so he can prepare some of his mouth-watering ribeyes.
Can't wait to have friends over for a cook-out!! Now if I can talk him into putting up one of those screened rooms over the patio and a few nice chairs!
AHHH...

Feeling Anxious
5 months!! (give or take a few days)
Yep!! You read that correctly. Less than 6 months to graduation!!!! Of course, alot has to happen before then. I must stay on track and keep my grades up. That is so very hard to do right now. I find that I do not want to make that drive every evening, I do not want to read, and I can still find no time to study.
You know, if nothing else, I have really made some good friends along the way. AND I am not going to attempt to name all of them here. (1) the list would be way too long, and (2) out of fear that I may forget to list someone.
I spent Friday nite and Sat morning at the ATLA Trial Advocacy Competition, not competiting but supporting my classmates. They did a great job but did not make it to the final round on Sunday. These competitions are tough and they were competing against universities such as Alabama, & Cumberland, as well as other large law schools from other states!
I will get some school pics together and post in the next entry I promise!

Feeling Quiet
latenight thoughts..
I found a wonderful quote that I will adopt and hope that I can remember it everyday...
"I must not fear. Fear is the mindkiller. Fear is the little death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past me I will turn to see fear's path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain." Frank Herbert, Dune
I know that we have not updated this blog in a long time. Life has increased it's speed again...just like the traffic on I-65 (the path I take night after night). It amazes me, that I have been traveling that road for two years now and have only had to deal with one flat tire and running out of gas once. When traffic gets bogged down because of an accident (which usually takes foreveer to get cleaned up-and I grumble), I do count my blessings as I pass by and see mangled cars. It could very easily have been me...and I am aware of that.
Bill does the same as me....traveling the roads of Alabama day after day, and I am so thankful every night when we both get home...and kiss each other goodnight. I find great comfort in those goodnight kisses...they mean so much!
Peace to everyone...count your blessings each day...but live without fear.

Feeling Ecstatic
We are truely blessed!!
I believe that this has been one of the very best Thanksgiving Days I have had in a long time! Bill and I were so very blessed to have all the kids home with us today. This was a very unusual event, all three kids in one car and sitting down at one table having Thanksgiving dinner together!!!! I managed, somehow to get both Michele and Mike home at the same time and I want to thank both of them for giving me the best present ever!
I want all my kids to know that they dont ever have to buy me anything for a gift...just be there. Sometimes that speaks volumes, and I dont think they understand what that means. It was also important to the grandparents, and today was a good day.
Sleep well everyone...count your blessings even if it is the smallest of blessings!! Peace and love to you all.

I am alive...
Yes I know, it has been a long time since I have updated this blog. School and work have taken its toll on me lately and it seems there is no time for anything. Billy was able to join his friends at the BoyScout Pine-wood Derby race today. These are pics of his car and the race. He managed to win second place for "Most Cubby". His car actually came in 4th in every race (at least he and daddy are consistant in their construction) but his car was decorated in true Cub Scout form with the colors and all.
Notice also that he is missing two top teeth so the tooth fairy had to visit two times times this week! The tooth fairy is loosing face tho cause she cant afford enough for him to get the newest Game-boy game. Working in the yard with Dad provides much more substance to his piggy bank and many more adventures.
Last note..we want to extend congrats and love to our friends, the Wood family in the addition of a lovely baby girl to their family this week. Check out their blog announcing the bouncing baby girl named Morgan. We are really happy for all of you!!!
Good nite all...more later
