When Did Michael Schiavo Call 911?

by Janice Sanford

Refusing to give up on the Terri Schiavo case, Gov. Jeb Bush has asked Pinellas prosecutors to sort out time discrepancies Michael Schiavo has provided regarding the hour he found his wife unconscious 15 years ago.<snip>"We are going to look into the circumstances surrounding the times," said [Bruce] Bartlett, who declined to label the review an investigation. "The governor has expressed concern over that aspect of the case."

Michael Schiavo has said he called 911 immediately after finding his wife collapsed on the floor of their home on Feb. 25, 1990. Though medical records indicate he called 911 about 5:40 a.m. that day, he told the Medical Examiner's Office recently that he found his wife about 4:30 a.m. <snip> Felos said it's impossible that 70 minutes elapsed before Michael Schiavo called 911. http://www.sptimes.com/2005/06/17/Tampabay/Schiavo_timeline_trou.shtml

In asking McCabe to look again into what put Schiavo in a persistent vegetative state, Bush had cited an alleged gap between when Schiavo's husband Michael found her and when he called 911. The governor had said the issue remained unsettled.

McCabe said, however, while such discrepancies may exist in the record, Michael Schiavo's statements that he called 911 immediately had been consistent.

Let's Take Another Look!

According to the St. Petersburg Police Department's 1990 police report, that was rewritten in 2003 by Officer Phillip R. Brewer:

5:40 paramedics called for assistance
6:11 officers Phillip Brewer and Officer Rodney Tower[from Homicide] were dispatched
6:33 officers arrived at the Schiavo's Thunderbay apartment
8:55 investigation was completed

It took the St. Petersburg officers 22 minutes to reach "incident" address.

The police were called because of her [Terri Schiavo's] age and because the situation seemed unusual.- Police Report
According to the police report: He [Michael Schiavo] found her [Terri] unconscious on the floor and called paramedics.

According to the police report:  Terri's blood alcohol level measured at "less than 10", which a nurse described as being the bottom of the scale.

Note: Terri Schiavo had drink some kind of alcoholic beverage the night of her collapse. [But that's another story.] http://www.hospicepatients.org/police-report-02-25-90-terri-schiavo-collapse.pdf

The Autopsy

5:52 Paramedics began treating Terri Schiavo.
6:32 A pulse was documented.
6:46 Terri Schiavo arrived at Humana Hospital-Northside.
6:46 A measurable systolic blood pressure was recorded.
7:01 One hour after her initial collapse and after over 30 minutes of CPR, Terri's blood sample showed hypokalemia  [2.0 mmol/L, normal 3.5-5.0].  http://abstractappeal.com/schiavo/autopsyreport.pdf

Michael Schiavo's 1992 Testimony: says he found his wife collapsed at 5 a.m.

According to the medical records given to Dr. Jon Thogmartin [Pinellas-Pasco medical examiner] Terri collapsed at 6:00 a.m.

Attorney David Gibbs said Michael Schiavo "didn't call 911 until 5:40 a.m."

"The police department records indicate that I made the call at 5:40 on Sunday, February 25, 1990. I'll take their word for it." [Michael Schiavo, Terri the Truth, page 3]

The paramedics called the police for assistance at 5:40 a.m. -Police Report

Nowhere in the police report does it give any kind of indication that Michael Schiavo called 911 at 5:40 on Sunday, February 25, 1990.

not a law enforcement agency like most other 911 centers

If Michael Schiavo, or anyone else, had called 911 when Terri collapsed they would have reached "The Pinellas County Emergency Communications Center" the primary answering point for ALL 911 calls within the County. Which is " not a law enforcement agency like most other 911 centers."

HISTORY  [Pinellas County's 911]

An operator at her console.Pinellas County has had 911 since 1978. Over the years, the system has evolved many times. Originally the Sheriffs Office handled north county areas and the City of St. Petersburg the south. In 1987 the Pinellas County Emergency Communications Center was formed and assumed the role of 911 center for the central and northern portions of the County. A year later “Enhanced 911" was installed countywide. The most recent change to the system occurred in December 1991. The Pinellas County Emergency Communications Center became the primary answering point for ALL 911 calls within the County. Pinellas County is very unique because we are not a law enforcement agency like most other 911 centers, and we also dispatch for all the fire departments in the county.
http://www.pinellascounty.org/911/ourcenter.htm

The hospital records reflect that Terri Schiavo arrived there at 6:46
The paramedics called the St Petersburg Police at 5:40

This leaves little doubt that the 911 call was made to the  Pinellas County Emergency Communications Center sometime before 5:40 a.m.

This gives way to the questions: WHO'S LYING? Who wanted the public to believe the lie that "Michael Schiavo called 911 at 5:40, Sunday, February 25, 1990"? And. Why would transporting Terri Schiavo to Humana Hospital-Northside take possibly hours?

When efforts were being made to save Terri Schiavo's life, many mentioned that before George W. Greer became a judge that he was a Pinellas County Commissioner. There's more:

In 1984, Greer was elected to the Pinellas County Commission.   He was re-elected in 1988 and served as Chairman of that Board in 1987 and 1992.                                http://www.bioethics.upenn.edu/symposium/?pageId=1&subpage=290

Judge George W. Greer, as Pinellas County Commissioner George Greer had access to Terri Schiavo's February 25, 1990 Sunstar Ambulance records.

Pinellas County owns and operates the EMS service under the brand name SunStar. The ambulance license, patient records and all revenues belong to the County.

Like Judge W. Douglas Baird [who found Terri's Law unconstitutional], George Greer [who sentenced Terri Schiavo to die by starvation-dehydration] was involved in the Terri Schiavo case in 1990.
Notes:
July 3, 1990 - Judge W. Douglas Baird signs " Letters of Plenary Guardian" which declares " Michael Richard Schiavo duly qualified under the laws of the State of Florida to act as the plenary guardian(s) of Theresa M. Schiavo Incapacitated Person, and to act on behalf of the Incapacitated Person with full power to have care, custody, and control of the ward, to exercise all delegable rights of the law, and to take possession of and hold, for the benefit of said Incapacitated Person all the property of said Incapacitated Person, and of rents, income, issues, and profits from it..."    http://www.justiceforterrischiavo.us/timeline.htm

                                                                WHAT IF? [Speculation]
One has only to read the orders that both judges wrote to get a feel of the 'unprecedented' push behind their joint efforts to make sure that Terri Schiavo never got the chance to regain the abilityto tell what caused her to collapse. What if the cover-up was to protect the county from having to pay millions in damages caused by mistakes made by those operating Pinellas County's 911 system? What if there really was a conspiracy to kill one Theresa Marie 'Terri' Schiavo?

It seems: There has been nothing but lies coming out of the Pinellas County surrounding the Terri Schiavo case.

Someone should ask Bernie McCabe to explain why he keeps 'shying' away from anything to do with the real time that Michael Schiavo called 911.

"You guys have no credibility whatsoever ... it's all a bunch of propaganda and manipulated data aimed at confirming the lies of Michael Schiavo." -Jeff Donius (ILL)

"May shame follow all who passed lies off as truths in the Terri Schiavo case."
-Janice Sanford
