A Needed Economics Lesson for Rep. Wolf
Prodos Worldwide on Solid Vox has a 30 minute interview with Gerard Jackson about how economics and history refutes calls for state intervention in the labor market.
Given Rep. Frank Wolf’s condemnation during his Ashburn town hall meeting of proposed profits by an Australian company that sought to invest in private transportation infrastructure in Northern Virginia, I would recommend this conversation between two Australians advocating something that Rep. Wolf opposes, CAPITALISM.
Given promises by House Democrats for raising the minimum wage, Rep. Wolf could learn some valid arguments against government intervention in wage rates.
Further, Mr. Jackson’s comments on how the depletion of capital leads to lower wages. His comments caused me to recognize how federal taxes attack capital accumulation. When it comes to Republican efforts to lower these taxes, Rep. Wolf and his caucus would benefit from instruction in valid arguments against these taxes by Mr. Jackson. Perhaps, if they were willing to be objectively correct, these congressman could be so bold as to eliminate the capital gains tax instead to hoping only to limit its damage by lowering that tax rate.
