Non Sequitur
According to media reports in Washington, we and the candidates have been wasting a lot of time and money the past several months as the presidential election will be decided by the outcome of today’s Redskins’ game against the Packers.
The reports correlate Redskin performance in their home game before an election to the success or failure of the incumbent party; when the Redskins win, so does the incumbent party’s presidential candidate, while a loss means an opposition takeover.
Given the roll the Packers have been on for the past two weeks, it looks like another Redskin loss today. If this occurs expect, Senator Kerry to announce a victory party at ‘Lambert’ field with all of his favorite ‘braut-head’ fans.
So, if you are a Kerry supporter and believe this correlation, please feel free to save some time on Tuesday by avoiding unnecessary waits in long lines. ;)
Update 11/2/2004: Packers win! With the victory, they extended their winning streak, evened their record at 4-4, and regain a full game of lost ground on both the Vikings and the Lions. This is the significance of the game.
Of course, this post was a joke and an excuse to talk about the Packers; however, from emails I received it seems that some people did not get the joke.
It is not their fault as there was a serious observation about leftists included in the punch line. On the night before the post, Dr. Bernstein answered questions about his upcoming book The Capitalist Manifesto; a section of which deals with exploding the non sequiturs used by the Left to promote collectivism. The Redskin correlation is the type of absurd violation of proof used by the Left to attack individual rights (for example: the junk science of environmentalists).
