Listening to the Score to "The Passion of the Christ"

Welcome to the Wildcat's Lair.  As with most blogs I've come across, I feel a bit obligated to open with an introduction.

I'm an aspiring writer of fantasy residing in Richmond, Virginia.  My wife and I work as a team and have just finished the first draft of what will, godwilling, be our first published work.  The working title is The Last VandarynYou aren't likely to see any of that writing within the Wildcat's Lair.

I would be the Wildcat, a nickname given to me by a co-worker, and she's never quite described the inspiration for that nickname to my satisfaction which gives it a bit of mystery even for me.

Until today, I'd no idea what to use this blog for, but a comment from my wife seemed to lock the idea for me.  I'm using this as a journal for critiquing books I've recently read.  My other passions include movie scores, so you're likely to find a review or two for those, as well.  I also plan to sneak in a few bits of graphic artwork.  For now, I'll settle with adding a picture of myself to go with this introduction.

At present, I'm reading Bernard Cornwell's novel Sharpe's Company.  I find his skill with battle scenes impressive as hell.  As my wife and I were writing a battle scene to conclude the first draft of our own book, I hoped Cornwell's talent might brush off a bit.
