Feeling Sad
Hearing DOTTIE RAMBO

"SILENCE OF THE SONGBIRDS"

(in loving memory of Dottie Rambo)

The songbirds are silent tonight,

their heads are downcast with sorrow.

A mighty singer has gone to a heavenly home,

her body will be buried tomorrow,

but her spirit lives on in 3000 songs.

The gospel songs that she sang

through the Kentucky hills rang

in every mountain, valley and hollow,

songs of our dear Savior's birth,

the time He spent here on earth and

His love for even a swallow.

"I Go To The Rock", the song of the Dove,

was written from a heart filled with love.

"Stand By The River" was sung with Dolly.

Whitney, Elvis, Johnny Cash, another  Dottie,

Barbara, Bill, Sandy Patty and Vince Gill  and

even Governor Davis paid her homage.

Songwriter of the Century ,  her fame had soared,

and she won the  Lifetime Achievement award,

for a great entertainer that  fans all adored.

Satan tried to steal her from us.

It took her faith in God to save her.

Though often times racked with pain

that seared through her frail, little frame,

twas not  her own  body that betrayed her.

It took a tornado's great gusts

to wreck her Missouri tour bus,

and to quiet that jubilant voice

from singing a triumphant chorus.

Stilled is the song of the nightingale

and silent is the song of the sparrow,

for one of their own today has gone home

and is singing now in a heavenly choir.
