Sillies

In a house full of kids there are so many possibilities. They have these incredible imaginations and can turn anything into a game. Then they are also painfully honest. There are times things are said that as a parent you just want to cringe. It's honest, it may even be the same thing you're thinking but as an adult you've been taught when to say nothing or flat out lie. Oddly enough, the things they say, true as they are can also produce fits of laughter that just won't go away. What follows are just a few examples of what has been heard around this house and these kids lately.

- After wiping out on a scooter... "no fo' wheel Mom, I almost died"

- When being asked if the teacher should be called about a test grade... "no, she already knows, she graded it."

- After being woken from a dream... "he should've got on my bed and looked in my ear to see if my dream was over yet"

- About their basketball trophies... "we didn't get the ones with the big balls, they were for the winners"

- After being told the neighbor girl is too young for him... "well I'm six and Caleb's six, six plus six is twelve and that's how old Amanda is"

- About a girl he likes... "I tried to give her the heart, she just said ewwww"

- In reply to being shushed in church... "he sat on me"

- During a conversation with his cousin... "you only use your tongue if you really like her, right Mom?" (no this didn't get answered, the subject got changed... Ice Cream anyone?!?)

- When his things would not go back into the bag... "if this chocolate doesn't go back in there it's not going to get a surprise, I mean it"

- While trying to pull a loose tooth... "you want me to get the pliers?" (this was obviously not a tooth being pulled from his own mouth)

Yes, they say such silly things. We hurry them along, wanting them to just grow up. Funny the things you can hear though when you try being quiet for a change instead of hushing them. What else might you hear if you just sat still and listened? Who else is trying to talk to you? Are you too busy to listen to him too?
