The healing power of music


Many people ask us how we can continue working when tragedies happen, especially while we are away from home.  The answer is simple.  Music heals.  This has been part of our mission, to help people heal, whether it be in South Africa or overseas.  We want to allow our singing to help people heal.

So many people have told us that our singing has helped them pass through personal ordeals.  We find this to be true for ourselves as well.  Not just our singing, but other people too.  There is such joy and love in music.  During this time of grieving for us we help ourselves heal by singing.

    Perdón por escribir en español, entiendo inglés pero no puedo escribirlo. Quería de alguna manera hacerles llegar mi admiración y no encontraba la manera, hasta que leí esto aquí arriba. La primera vez que los escuché estaba viviendo en Canadá y fue en un concierto con Paul Simon.Desde ese momento quedé enamorada de sus voces, pero nunca pudimos comprar ninguno de sus discos. Hace ya mucho tiempo que estoy viviendo nuevamente en mi país natal, Uruguay y aquí solo hay 4 de sus discos. No puedo hacerles sentir lo que significa escuchar sus voces, es como elevarse a lo mas alto, algo sublime que me hace estremecer y sentir sumamente feliz. Quizás parezca algo exagerado pero es lo que me pasa cuando escucho su "música". Se me eriza la piel cuando los escucho, son verdaderamente maravillosos, y algún día podré comprar toda su discografía para deleitar mis oídos. Ahora mi hijita de 3 años también está fascinada con su música y hasta "canta" en su idioma. Realmente creo que sus voces tienen magia, no se como es el nombre de uno de los cantantes que hace muchos sonidos, creo muy africanos, muy indígenas, muy propios de su cultura (por asi decirlo ya que no lo se)esos sonidos me encantan, realmente me fascinan, parece que fuera parte de lo que canta, quizás mi espíritu algún día estuvo viviendo por ahi, o mis antepasados, no le encuentro explicación, lo que si se es que me maravilla el alma, oírlos. Quizás algún día puedan estar por mi país, nunca se sabe, yo también creo que los sueños hay que perseguirlos para que se hagan realidad y quien sabe algún día pueda conocerlos personalmente y estrechar sus manos.

    I cannot begin to imagine how sublime the combination of Josh & Ladysmith will sound. I've been listening to Josh for several years now, only recently discovered you guys and COMPLETELY LOVE your music.

    When I heard he was going to be doing South African music, I had a little hope in the back of my mind that he would collaborate with you. This is a dream come true and I can't wait.

    I am very sorry for your recent loss.

    Thank you for continuing to share your music through this difficult time. Josh Groban's fans are eagerly awaiting  his new cd, and have hoped it would include the beautiful music of South Africa. Josh's fans have also felt stronlgy that his music has something special that helps heal, and brings joy to all who hear it, your music is a perfect choice to blend with his.
