Round Robin "Red"
It's been a long time since I've participated in the "Round Robin" photo group. They've honored me with the priviledge of choosing this weeks theme.
I chose "Red." Partly because it is the month of Valentines and hearts. But, partly, because I just like the color!
Here's my picture and I'll explain why:

This is "Library Gardens." I've driven by this little park in my city many times but never took the time to visit until the Round Robin challenge came around. This huge RED apple always catches my eye as I drive by on the way uptown.
This park is lovely, actually. They've got statues of books...a desk lamp with books as a fountain....picnic areas....and this one HUGE book with a HUGE RED apple! I got out and snapped some more shots if you'd care to look. It's a very peaceful place!
Thanks for including me again. It's been awhile since I participated and I had forgotten how much fun it was! So go take a peek at the other Round Robins and see how creative everyone is. Click here: The Round Robin Photo Challenges

Round Robin Challenge "Americana"

This weeks Round Robin Photo Challenge is called "Americana." It's supposed to be something that represents "Americana" to me. There are a lot of things that I thought of. I thought of Disneyland, Mickey Mouse, Baseball, all kinds of things. But, one day as I was driving along I saw this. I live about 3 miles from it. This is the world's oldest operating McDonald's. Now...who doesn't remember the old fashioned McDonald's with the "Golden Arches?" They have a museum next to it that holds some of the old McDonald's artifacts. I've added the pictures of my visit to this historic place. Read about it here if you want City of Downey
This McDonald's was damaged in the 1994 Northridge earthquake. The city (Downey) wanted to tear it down. It was old, not showing a profit (no drive thru, perhaps?), and was now damaged. Well...the townspeople had a FIT! No way did they want their original McDonald's torn down. The City of Downey agreed to repair it but told the citizens that they'd better use it and they wanted it to show a profit each year. I'll tell ya....when I visited to take these pictures the window was ALWAYS busy!
This challenge was fun! It got me thinking. I never even realized this place had a museum and probably wouldn't have discovered it if I hadn't been doing this challenge.
Thanks to the Round Robins. It was fun! Enjoy!

My New Photo Journal

Hi everyone! This is my new public journal for my photo entries for such things as "The Round Robins" and other activities I might decide to do. It's going to be for photos. I hope you visit often and decide to take a gander at some of my fun entries! I will still be writing in my other journal, but I think it's easier for the "Robins" to see my entries from a public journal.
Thanks for visiting.
