NCAA Hoops Stars... Can this be the year of the great college players

Usually in NBA Drafts, there are 2 or 3 guys stand out and atleast 1 is a bust. Like in 2003, when LeBron James, Darko Milicic and Carmelo Anthony were the big talk. Meanwhile, Darko Milicic only scored 2 points in his rookie season. And in 1984, Hakeem Olijuawan, Sam Bowie and the great Michael Jordan. The blazers picked the 6 foot 11 inch Bowie over MJ. Bowie ended up being the bust that year. But this year, there are some very good players that probably, no doubt in my mind will be busts. For starters, Duke has 3 main players. J. J. Reddick, Sean Dockery and Lee Melchioni. For Michigan State, they have Paul "Bunyan" Davis and Maurice Ager. On U. C. L. A., Jarred Farmer looks to be there star player at the shooting guard position. Also, Marco Killingsworth for Indiana is a good Power Forward that nobody really knew at the begining of the season. The NCAA Basketball is looking good this year. Do you think so?? If you do, e-mail me on gmen1201@aim.com.

CS Update

So, I am a bit happy and a bit not happy. I am happy because I picked the Chicago White Sox to win the ALCS and hopefully the Angels season will end tonight, but ya know the Angels had a hell of a season. Mike Scioscia was looking to make it over .500 and ends up winning the division, rockin' hard with the Oakland Athletics the whole 2nd half of the season.

The White Sox where leading 10 1/2 games coming into september. But guess who, the Cleveland Indians came and it a 1 gme lead. Soon after that, the season was over and the White Sox won the American League Central Division by 2 games. Ozzie Guillen is on his way to the world series. Angels fans as my pal Mack Rosenberg (also has blog) would say "They won fair and square". Just face it, John Paul would have taged him anyway, but Paul was stupid enough to walk away, even though he thought he was out. You wanna be a great catcher like Jason Varitek and I-Rod, tag him anyway. In other news, Doug Eddings and Jerry Crawford in my belief made the right call. It was a border-line call.

I am not happy because the St.Louis Cardinals are trailing 2-1 to the Houston Astros. It's quite unbelievable, they should have won the NL Central, let alone wild card. Houston has gotten a blast of Amazing energy or somethin' because I haven't seen them play like this for a very, very long time (Joe Morgan days).

So my predictions for tonight will be this:

Chicago White Sox 4 v. Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 2

St.Louis Cardinals 10 v. Houston Astros 6

Colts... Can they survive and go 6-0?

The Indianapolis Colts are off to an unbelievable start already 5-0. This week they're goin' to have to prevail against the St.Louis Rams who are not off to a great start. Peyton Manning has been just great this season with a 94.1 Passer Rating with 1123 yards going 96 for 145 with 7 touchdowns. He has 4 Interceptions and 51 yards is his longest throw. Reggie Wayne has 21 receptions for 289 yards and 1 touchdown. His longest catch was a 51 yarder, also Peyton Mannings. Marvin Harrison has 26 receptions for 284 yards with 3 touchdowns. His longest catch was 28 yards. Dwight Freeney is helping the defensive side of the ball with 5 sacks and 14 tackles. Mike Vanderjagt is the Special Teams man with his longest Field Goal being 41 yards. He is 5 for 5 in his Field Goal run. Let's hope for a win v. the 2-3 Rams!!

The Play

Joe Crede smashes one driving in Pablo Ozuna for the GW run last night v. the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim

Last nights Los Angeles Angeles of Anaheim v. Chicago White Sox game was a very good game. It was tied 1-1 in the bottom in the ninth inning, A.J. Pierzinski is at the plate. The count is 1-2 when suudenly, the ball is supposedly, the ball hit the ground and catcher John Paul thought that he had clearly caught the ball. Pierzinski did not think so, he ran his way up to first base after the umpire gave a weird signal, than a strike three signal. "Safe" the umpire called at home, first and third base. Mike Scioscia emeddiatly ran over to the umpire and argued with him. After reviewing the play several times, MLB officials still do not know if it hit the ground before John Paul caught it or if Paul just did catch it. Some of us, the great fans of baseball really wish that there was a challenge/replay booth to review if managers come out to argue otherwise there is no point arguing over a call you know won't get overturned. All your doing is cruising on getting ejected from the game. These are the times when we need the challenge/replay booth. In the end the costly mistake made by the ump, Joe Crede drove in Pablo Ozuna (Peirzinski was pinch runned) to win the game 2-1. Captain Clutch Crede strikes again in a huge win. Was it an earned run that the White Sox scored or was it a costly error Doug Eddings made at the plate. This can just be one of the biggest controversy's in baseball that has ever happened.

There were 4... down to one

The Cinncinati Bengals, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Indianapolis Colts and the Washington Redskins came in yetarday as the 4 undefeated teams in the NFL. Today, the Indianapolis Colts are the only team undefeated beating the San Francisco 49ers. The Cinncinati Bengals lost to the Jacksonville Jaguars 23-20 in Sunday Night Football last night. The Washington Redskins lost to the Denver Broncos yestarday as well. And suprisingly, the New York Jets, yes you heard me the New York Jets won against  the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 14-12. Tonight the Pittsburgh Steelers and the San Diego Chargers play. Let's see how these two teams matchup: Ben Roethlisberger is a decent Quarterback and so is Drew Brees. Willie Parker and LaDainian Tomlinson don't even compare, Tomlinson is a lot better. The recieving crew for the Pittsburgh Steelers is much better than the San Diego Chargers'. David Boston is out for the season and Ernie Caldwell and Antonio Gates are pretty damn good. Hines Ward, Heath Miller (rookie), and the others are very, very good and Willie Parker can also be an effective reciever. We will see who wins in this one. In my prediction, the Pittsburgh Steelers are going to win this one by the final score of 21-3.

Question and Answer with Alex "The Blog Phenom" Reimer

On Friday October 7, I sat down with the "Blog Phenom" Alex Reimer and asked him what some of his playoff  predictions and some predictions for next year:

Q: So Alex, can you tell me what's running through your mind when your Red Sox are trailing and playing tonight (they lost), at Fenway in the American League Division Series?

A: Well, your playing at Boston and I am watchin' this one so we better get the Boston win that we deserve, it would be heartbreaking for us Red Sox fans to get swept by a team that would be winning there first series in the playoffs since 1917!!

Q: How do you think the Padres reacted when Jake Peavy was placed on the Disabled List?

A: Probably very nervous (There out of it now) if they do not win games 2 and 3 it can be because of the loss of Peavy.

Q: Who are 2 World Series teams?

A: Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and the Houston Astros

Q: Who is your winner and your Most Valuble Player?

A: Astros because of there big three Roger Clemens, Roy Oswalt and Andy Pettite and my Most Valuble Player is probably going to be Brad Lidge.

Q: What N.L and A.L teams deserve to make the playoffs and take one team from each league out?

A: Can't answer that one

Q: What are your predictions for next year?

A: Can't answer that one

Q: What team(s) below .500 this year have the best possibility to go over .500 next year?

A: Toronto definatly(Pitching coach has connections with A.J. Burnett) and the Milwaukee Brewers maybe

Q: What would your favorite team be if the Boston Red Sox never existed?

A: The Tampa Bay Devil Rays because of there young talent like Johnny Gomes, Carl Crawford and Rocco Baldelli

Q: Last question, Who are your next years HOF inductees?

A: Not McGwire or John Wettelend maybe Orel Hershiser and not Jose Canseco, Cnseco maybe if he didn't take steroids on a couple of accounts

Thank you for doing this with me Alex

Oh cool, thanks

Red Sox v. Yankees

It has all come down to this. The Boston Red Sox v. The New York Yankees and all the Yankees have to do is win 2 out of 3 and win the division... but same circumstances for the Red Sox. The Red Sox and Yankee players have a lot and I mean a lot of pressure on them. The Yankees want to make New York proud, just like Boston wants to make Boston happy, as well as fellow fans in other parts of the U.S. Tonight, is the start of one of the greatest series ever played.

Week 4 Predictions

Ladies and Gentalmen, please sit back and relax as I make some predictions for week 4 in the National Football League:

Buffalo Bills v. New Orleans Saints: One of the NFL's most heartbroken teams, the Saints will be facing the Bills this week. I will go and pull the plug on Mike Mularkey and pick the New Orleans Saints in this one. They have the capability to be a great NFL team.

Broncos v. Jaguars: This game isn't gonna be so easy to pick. The Broncos are coming of a 30-10 win over the Kansas City Chiefs so there are high hopes for this ball club. The Jaguars I believe are coming off a loss. I will probably pick the Denver Broncos because Fred Taylor isn't what he used to be and Byron Leftwich is gettin' hurt left and right and can possibly get injured this coming game.

Lions v. Buccaneers: The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are off to a great start, going 3-0. The Detroit Lions are 2-1. Not so bad, but should have beatin the Chicago Bears in that Week 2 upset. Lions have a pretty good Quarterback in Joey Harrington and have a good running game in Kevin Jones. But there is no absoulute way that the Lions defense is going to stop Carnell "Cadillac" Williams. He's just two affective, so sorry Steve Marriuci, but the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are gonna go 4-0 this year.

Texans v. Bengals: I don't have to say anything other than... Bengals are gonna win.

Colts v. Titans: Two AFC South teams are battling it out in week 4. The Colts have an amazing Quarterback in Peyton Manning and the Titans suck so bad they can't get a team above average. This is Jeff Fishers year to say bye-bye to the Tennesee Titans and move on with his life. Colts win, no doubt.

Chargers v. Patriots: I am sorry Charger fans but the Chargers got lucky agains the Giants and the Patriots made the Steelers go 2-1. Patriots win no doubt.

Seahawks v. Redskins: I am undecided in this matchup

Last matchup

Giants v. Rams: G-men all the way baby woooo!!!!!!.

Giants win, win and... lose

The New York Giants were doing excelent, beating the Arizona Cardinals and then dominating the New Orleans Saints. But this Sunday night the New York Giants were pulverized by the 0-2, now 1-2 San Diego Chargers. Why did this loss come so soon to the Giants, the stats for the game were this:

Eli Manning- 24/41, 352 Yards and 2 TD's (O INT's)

Tiki Barber- 15 attempts, 60 yards, Longest run 27 yrds (0 TD's)

Plaxico Burress- 5 receptions, 52 yards, 1 TD

Jeremy Shockey- 6 receptions, 101 YRD's

Why...why... why did the Giants lose...........WHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
