More About Being Unequally Yoked
Previously I began dealing with the issue of what a person should do when they are married to someone who is not a believer in Christ. I stated last time that regardless of our spouse's spiritual condition we were still to regard our marriage as sacred and to let God work through us to redeem our spouse. I use this Scripture text as my source of authority:
"But to the rest I, not the Lord, say: If any brother has a wife who does not believe, and she is willing to live with him, let him not divorce her. And a woman who has a husband who does not believe, if he is willing to live with her, let her not divorce him. For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband; otherwise your children would be unclean, but now they are holy. But if the unbeliever departs, let him depart; a brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases. But God has called us to peace. For how do you know, O wife, whether you will save your husband? Or how do you know, O husband, whether you will save your wife?" 1 Corinthians 7:12-16 NKJV

My strongest advice to anyone who is married to an unbeliever is to play offense and not defense. By that I mean the devil will try to overwhelm you with regret, condemnation, fear and constant accusations against your spouse. It becomes an overwhelming barrage of negativity.
The answer is to take the offense and get off the defense. Make up your mind that you are committed to your marriage and through prayer, support from fellow believers and God's love you are going to win your spouse to Christ. Some of the best marriages I have ever seen are couples where one of them was an unbeliever and their spouse's love won them to the Lord.
Of course the devil wants to put an image in your mind of your spouse as a godless creep. As he does that, he simultaneously implants a fantasy marriage in your mind of Mr. or Ms. Right who love Christ and can't wait to love you if you will just ditch the loser you're married to. Realize two things: 1. The devil is a liar. 2. Being married to a Christian doesn't mean you won't have problems.

Be committed to your marriage and get on the offense. With God as your
partneryou've got the winning team. Don't try to force your spouse to believe. Make your faith so attractive and your love so sweet that they will want what you have. If it doesn't get them saved, it will sure make your life and your children's lives immeasurably more pleasant.
Blessings,
