Feeling Chillin'
Happy Halloween!

I hope everyone is having a very safe but fun Halloween.
I made a big pot of spaghetti and my homemade meatballs for the kids before they went trick or treating. I am not sure how much candy the boys will get though. After all they are 16 and 14 and VERY big boys! Their friend Ryan went with them and he’s about as big as my boys are. It will be fun to see what they bring home. My daughter and her friend stayed home to hand out candy for me since it’s hard for me to go up and down the stairs with my bad knees. The funny thing is though, I had to send Cassie’s friend, Kerry, to the store to get more candy. We ran out! So, the kids that came in the 15 minutes that Kerry was gone we had to tell to come back in a short bit! So far we have had about 40 kids. Last year we only had 17 so I only got 2 bags. I knew if I got too much we would just eat it and we do NOT need it! None of us at our house! LOL

The dogs are going nuts every time the door bell rings and were running down to the door and scaring the kids. I finally but the ironing board and another board on top of that to keep them upstairs with me. So, they just stood at the top of the stairs barking their heads off and kept looking at me as to say it wasn’t fair that they couldn’t go and scare the kids!
I am not sure if many of you remember from several entries ago how I told how I don’t get into Halloween much anymore. On October 31, 1985 was the day of my Dad’s funeral. After the funeral the neighborhood ladies had a meal for everyone. I will never forget what happened next. We lived in the country and everyone was friends with each other. It was a very nice community. My best friend Claudia and I would get paid 25 cents a headstone in the summer to trim around the headstones at the community cemetery. Her brother Jeff (he was also a very close friend of mine. He and I were like brothers and best buds since we were babies) got paid to mow the cemetery. Jeff still lives there and to this day continues to mow there. Anyway, Jeff and his Dad were also in charge of digging the new graves and then filling them in after the service. Jeff loved my Dad very much and his Dad was my Dad’s best friend. I was sitting in my parent’s kitchen after the service talking to my sister and Jeff and hisDad came in. They both had snow on them. It had started to snow right after the service. Both of them looked very sad. Jeff sat down at the table with me and started to cry.Iput my arms around him and cried with him. He finallysaid to me that it was the hardest thing he had ever done in his life…having to bury my Dad. To this day I remember that and still feel bad that he and his Dad had to do that. That is why we chose to bury Dad and my daughter at that cemetery since we grew up only ½ a mile from it and we lived there for over 20 years. My Mom sold our home about 4 years ago. She decided that it was getting too hard for her to take care of 4 acres alone. To this day when I go to the cemetery I have to go the back way since I can’t bear driving by our home. Mom had the procession drive by our home on the way to the cemetery so Dad could have one last drive by our home. Now you know why Halloween isn’t my favorite day, anymore.
Enough of the sad stuff. I hope everyone had a very nice day and those with kids got lots of yummy candy. Have a nice week everyone.

PS--I am constantly seeing journals where people are saying thanks for their graphics to the "TAG LOUNGE"...can anyone tell me where this site is located? Thank you!!!

Love your graphics too! Any chance that you'd let me know what you find out about the "Tag Lounge" and how to get invited. I'd love to snaz up my site with some spiffy graphics. So sorry to hear about your dad. I can relate to how that can darken a season. My dad died a few weeks before Christmas, a few days after his funeral my mom and I were evicted from our duplex apartment. It wasn't fair or legal but the poor don't always have the time or finances for legal council. We stayed with my grandparents until another apartment was found.
Mmmm yummy for the tummy, spaghetti and homemade meata-balls. Can I come on over next time? I could bring the garlic bread. I wish you well and thanks again for visiting my journal. -
Happy Halloween to you too! I have pictures in my journal from the weekend :) Love your pumkin graphics! Hehe..... Halloween is fun... hope the kids had fun trick or treating, I remember those days, LoL. Good stuff.

You had me laughing about your dogs. We had wondered how Toby would react to the trick or treaing kids. But, we didn't make it home in time. Mmmm, I think I just realized his problem that night when we got home! I'll have to journal about the incident. I can't believe I forgot to mention what happened with that muttly!
