    When I read this entry ... it brought back girlhood memories:


I WISH I WERE GOING TO THE U.P. STATE FAIR !
     Oh ... some year ... when growing up, we had a farm near Escanaba. I was so active in all kinds of 4-H projects. That's how I earned the money for my school clothes & books.




    Here's another Yooper blog ... she has a video &  tells of the strange lights ... many people say they've seen the ghostly light near Watersmeet, MI.

HERE'S THE LATEST ASSIGNMENT:
MY FAVORITE DAY OF THE WEEK?
 ... NOW THAT I'M RETIRED ... I HAVE TROUBLE KEEPING FOCUSED AS TO WHICH DAY OF THE WEEK IT IS ANYWAYS.
    I GUESS THAT I'D SAY MONDAY now; MANY PLACES ARE CLOSED ON THE WEEKEND.  By the time I procrastinate ... it's too late to make phone calls, etc. on Friday.  On Monday, I have a whole week (until Friday, again) to try to remember to do phone calls, mailings, go to the store, etc.
     When I was a truck driver, farmer, bar-tender, waitress, mom ... one day of the week was no different from any other; it was work, work, work all the time.  Sometimes it was hard to tell what day it was because I hadn't had that "get-into-bed-&-go-to-sleep" thing in between the two days.

     It is just so sad to  look at the aerial map of the mining town where the mining disaster happened in Utah ...  then ... to zoom in & actually see the homes ... like you were right there in a helicopter!

     I was talking to my uncle; he'd spent 15 years in the mines up here ... said that mining was a dangerous business.  I guess if you're a miner ... it's part of the program.  Up here in the U.P., you were either a miner or a logger ... or were crazy enough to try farming.
  So ... there were many miners & loggers in my family tree.   Must be why my chain saw is my favorite toy?

  It's been dry up in the U.P., too ... & there have been some forest fires ... here's where to look for reports on the fires.  Our governor just now imposed a burning ban for outdoor fires in most of Michigan ... including ALL of the Upper Peninsula.

   The fire up past Covington seems to have been taken care of ... there is a bad fire by Newberry ... another by Stonington.
    Hope the heat lets up for everybody ... it has cooled off nicely here ... almost chilly, esp. at night.     WOW ... I JUST LOOKED AT OUR ONLINE WEATHER ... WAS AFRAID TO LOOK OUTSIDE AT MY FLOWERS/TOMATOES ... I THINK THEY'RE OK ...

    This is a local band ... the best of the concert series this summer ... they said that there used to be 3 guys in the band, but had to rename when one left ... hence: "Three Quarters Full". I'd like to hear them again; I'll have to watch for when they play somewhere else. 
     I'll be uploading more videos to AOL to see how I like that compared to YouTube.

    LOG BUILDINGS ... these were dismantled, each log coded, & re-assembled at the museum site ... resembling old communitees.

    Loved the cat in the red, white and blue outfit. Your entries are so large by the time it comes to comment I can't always remember what I was going to comment on. Of course it could be my age.
