WoW ... it really is spring/almost summer!   The immediate forecast doesn't even include frost.
Tuesday was changeable weather.  Most of the day, it was gorgeous sun/blue skies/ fluffy white clouds.  Periodically ... it would cloud over ... sprinkle a little bit ... return to
gorgeous sun/blue skies/ fluffy white clouds.
Wednesday was mostly overcast ... some thunder ... some showers ... AND CHILLY.  Now, it's supposed to warm up into the 70's ... real heat-wave.

It's probably safe to plant my baby tomatoes, etc. outside.  That means wrestling with the rototiller to see if THAT wants to start.  My flower beds ... lots of weeding & pulling grass ... I want to plant some lettuce, etc. in the beds.  With all the rain we've been having ... everything, esp. the grass/weeds ... is so lush & growing every day.  With all the rainy days in the forecast, this will be a problem GROWING every day.

I was lucky to find an energetic odd-jobs guy, quite reasonable.  It kinda broke the bank ...

But ... watching him struggle with the overgrown grass, stubborn mower, and the hillside ... I just knew that it had to be.  I'd never have been able to get done what he did.

MORE PHOTOS OF THE PROJECT BELOW.

I had an urgent "must-do" project that always gets shifted to the back-burner.  I actually tended to my monthly pay-the-bills-after- the-Eagle flies (my S. S. check).  I miscalculated ... had to do a run to the bank to empty my wallet to put them back on even keel. BUT, I DO HAVE MOST OF MY BILLS PAID FOR THE REST OF THE MONTH;  BUT WILL BE BROKE FOR THE REST OF THE MONTHThe fun & games of being on Social Security only.

Wood ticks ... they're back!   It is bad enough to get settled comfy to rest ... and you get this creepy feeling ... what is really bad is when you are in a public place ... say the checkout counter at the store ... and you realize that you are not the only one inside your undies!

My way of getting even  with the ticks: I keep a baby food jar half full of baby oil.  Woodticks from me or the dog are put into it.  The ticks cannot climb out.  It is rather sadistic, but, I keep adding to the jar ... sorta like trophies.

BIG NEWS! ... A "NEW" CAR!
My kids thought that I ought to have a 4-Wheel drive vehicle.  It is a 2002 Chev Tracker.
There is even a separate set of snow tires; I will be able to make it all the way up the driveway to the house next winter.  I'm getting used to the idea.

My other car will have to be sold; I hope that I can get it sold for enough to pay the last tune-up/repair bill on it ($800).  It has high mileage ... but has lots of power & luxury features.
I advertised it on "Craigs List" ... got dozens of SCAM replies.  They tell you not to accept a cashiers or certified check.  How rotten....

 See ... I REALLY am a
BLOGGER!

Here is an e-mail that I received; perhaps  some people would put in some comments?  THERE IS A DEADLINE OF JUNE 13 , BUT, YOU CAN PHONE, FAX, E-MAIL, OR SNAIL-MAIL YOUR COMMENTS.

Dear Concerned Citizen of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan,

I am once again writing to ask for your help, by providing comments to the USDA Forest Service in support of our mineral exploration activities in the Ottawa National Forest. The comments which you previously submitted were extremely helpful. It is very important for the USDA Forest Service to know that, despite what the small but very vocal anti-development groups would have them believe, there are many people living and working in Ontonagon and Gogebic Counties who support our activities and are in favor of responsible resource development within the Ottawa National Forest.

Trans Superior Resources, Inc. has applied for permits to access and explore its privately-owned mineral rights in the Ottawa National Forest. The USDA Forest Service and Trans Superior have agreed to implement Design Criteria and Stipulations which will protect the forest environment. The project is located approximately 7 miles north of Bergland in Ontonagon County. We are planning to conduct non-ground-disturbing geophysical surveys and follow-up core drilling.

The deadline for comments is Friday June 13, 2008.
