Monday Morning Question With Krissy

From Krissy;  What is the most memorable activity you did with your family as a child?

We didn't get away much as we lived on a farm and had animals to take care.  (I guess that could be classed as a "memorable family activity")  I had grandparents, aunts & uncles & cousins who lived in eastern Washington, who came to our house a lot because we couldn't get away.   By the time I was 9 or 10, mom would put me on the train and I would travel to eastern Washington to visit them on my own, during summer vacations...  But finally in March of 1955, my dad arranged for someone to milk the cows, feed the pigs and chickens, etc.....and we drove to southern California for a full two weeks vacation.  Visiting with my dad's brothers and families and my dad's father  and of course seeing the sights, was so fun.  But the high point of this vacation (for me) was when my dad's step brother took me to work with him on a movie set & I met and had lunch with John Wayne.  I was 13 and will never forget that momentous event.
