Lords of the New Church 2003 EuroTour

Dresden, Germany-

I’d been fondly anticipating this show at Groove Station. This club is large with pool, pinball, internet and laundry services and so we’d all rationed our long overdue wash for Dresden. The club had undergone some changes since my last visit 18 Months ago and unfortunately laundry was a big one.
We arrived at 3:30 pm and rifled thru the city in search of Guinness, cds, clothes and tattoos. We shared a flat although I had my own room, where I hibernated until joining the others at Showtime.  Just as I was wondering how I could last the set, The first person I see as I entered is Siegrun, whom I’d met last visit. It’s still so cool how such brief acquaintances with certain people can feel like old friendships. As for the show, the LORDS finally won the crowd over by midset. I felt the tunes were a little slow but it very well could have been my state of mind. We played 2 encores, but the promoter ULI demanded a 3rd to calm the frenzy. We were blank for material, when Brian suggested MINDWARP. It was unrehearsed, risky and went brilliant! The crowds in DRESDEN have been suffering since my last visit. The city had been hit with terrible flooding a year ago. It was my personal pleasure to give them the only performance of MINDWARP this tour. PROST!!!!  P.S. ThankYou, Siegrun for the Launderette.
