Lords of the New Church 2003 EuroTour

UNDER WATER WORLD......the club is actually below a public swimming pool for those who don’t know this. Soundcheck was brief as they insisted DAVE T play on the same side as BRIAN and that BRIAN "Turn Down" I was pretty amped to rock as my Marshall was sounding great and the promoter, Humberto and I went back a ways to crazy days. Instead of dinner, The LORDS departed promptly to the hotel to unwind but got lost for an hour. Then I discovered my rooms lock was unfunctional......long story short, the ordeal was anything but relaxing for me. SF acquaintances FABULOUS DISASTER opened the show and really got the crowd going. They've become more punk/pop from when I last remember. Just minutes prior to taking stage, we discovered my Marshall amp decided to magically stop working. I wasn’t real pleased and felt the crowd were restless as well. There wasn’t much sustain to the substitute Marshall I used, which meant I had to change my strumming patterns in every song to a more constant motion: It was a lot of work and sidetracked a lot of my singing. The stage lighting also burned me out, as they never changed or flashed but simply all cooked on. On stage for me felt like I was treading water in a boiling fish tank with everyone gawking in. Still the encore NEAT NEAT NEAT rocked pretty hard though. It was a damn good show for a late TUESDAY night in HANNOVER.
