A little background for those of you not from around these parts....

Mitch Daniels is Indiana's Republican governor. He's not well-liked in northern Indiana, mainly because he leased the 80-90 Toll Road to a foreign company. The several billion dollars this decades-long lease generated has gone to fund projects throughout the state, and some in northern Indiana feel that they got cheated out of that money. I'm fairly neutral on that issue, but mostly, my feeling is that I try to consider what will benefit the state as a whole. We also are undertaking a large road construction project in northern Indiana (it almost took out our house, but we escaped the wrecking ball), so we will see some benefits here.

He's better liked in central and southern Indiana, and for the most part, I have to say that Indiana is doing fairly well, especially considering that some of the surrounding states are struggling, especially Michigan. There have been jobs lost in northern Indiana, but there have also been jobs created here, and throughout the state. I don't have statistics, but I'd be willing to bet that there is a net gain in jobs rather than a net loss. All in all, I am satisfied with what Daniels has done for the state. Like I said, we're in pretty good shape.

There's the background, now here's my real topic. This is a political ad that Daniels has started running, and the first time I saw it, I was amazed. I found it eye-catching and bold. The music is something you'd hear in a movie trailer, and it details accomplishments in short, easily remembered phrases. It also talks about positive things rather than attacking any opponent (which hadn't been decided when this first started airing.) When talking with Jillian yesterday, we discussed this ad and kind of laughed about it, because it's almost over-the-top...but it definitely grabs your interest. She even said that she would look into him a little more--she's more about issues than party affiliation--because she believe that Indiana is doing pretty well, too. So here's the ad, and tell me what you think. I don't know what firm or company put this together, but I think it's one of the most effective political ads I've ever seen.

I'm constantly asked why I don't post a picture of myself on my journal. For the exact same reason this political ad didn't post Mitch Daniels. I want people to read my thoughts my words, not get hung up on what I do or don't look like.

I actually liked this approach it concentrated on the positive instead of the negative. Which is what the present presidential running seems to excel in. (Hugs) Indigo

Ziggy, we vote in November, same day as the presidential election.

The ad is very eye catching, very bold and also very dramatic. All of those accomplishments look like good things so concentrate on that rather than on the face of a politician you may or may not like. Accentuate the positive. When do you next vote for a governor?
