Feeling Quiet
my list
My list if I had one month to live of things I'd do (the first part of assignment; see previous entry):
1. Eat a bag of Hershey's nuggets every day.
2. Travel to see my sister/her family.
3. Go to see Jessica and her family in Montana.
4. Drink a bottle of wine every night.
5. Take my credit card and max it out on food, gifts for family, etc.
6. Quit my job.
7. Buy a laptop and journal all day.
8. Rent fancy sports cars.
9. Go and see where my mom is buried.
10. Listen to praise music.
11. Read my Bible more.
12. Attend more church services.
13. Smile more.
14. Pray more.
15. Trust God more.
16. Spend time with family/friends.
17. Give away my possessions.
18. Talk to more people about Jesus.
19. Not sleep a lot.
20. Drink a Starbucks coffee every day.
21. Sail a boat.
22. Go snorkeling.
23. Write letters to family/friends.
24. Serve others.
What is in black is what I would cross off my list (second part of assignment, see previous entry) because realistically I couldn't do those things consistently in my day-to-day living now without turning into a blimp or becoming homeless if I quit my job and maxed out my credit cards, etc.
What is in blue is what I can do every day and this is how I broke it down (third part of assignment, see previous entry):
Listen to praise music
1. Have it on in the background while I'm working.
2. Listen to it in the evening when I'm on the computer.
to me, praise music helps me to connect to the Lord and give him glory, honor and of course praise
Read my Bible more
1. Think about what I'm reading, make sure I'm focused on the words I'm reading; ask the Lord to open something up in his word every time I read it.
2. Try to read a little from my Bible in the evening (usually I read it in the mornings during my devotions time and that's about it)
Attend more church services
1. Look for church services during the week/perhaps a Bible study.
2. Think of joining a community group at church.
3. Listen to sermons online from other pastors I like.
Smile more
1. Make a concentrated effort to look at each person I see and say "hi" to them with a smile on my face.
2. Greet my husband and son with a smile on my face when I see them first thing in the morning, when they come home from work, etc, but smile more at them.
Pray more
1. Think of God morning, noon, night, all the time.
2. Constant communication with God through each and every thing I do during the day.
Trust in God more
1. Learn to say "I trust you Jesus"
2. Remember his promises and how he's guided me through the storms of my life in the past.
Spend time with family/friends
1. Put family first over computer; if husband or son asks me to do something, like watch a movie or something on TV, go and do it willingly, get up and leave computer.
2. When son comes home at end of day, make an effort to talk with him a few minutes not asking direct questions about what he was doing, but just talk, tell him about my day, etc. (He's a teen, closed lip at times, trying to get him to open up more without being too threatening)
Give away my possessions
Look at what I have. Do I really need all this? Could someone use them more than me?
Talk to more people about Jesus
1. Not be shy to talk about the Lord.
2. Pray to the Lord for guidance to reach others for him.
Write letters to family/friends
1. Encourage hurting people.
2. Send more E-cards.
3. Always leave encouraging comments in journals.
Serve others
1. Find a place to serve/volunteer.
2. Continue my volunteering through Chemo Angels and Soldiers Angels.
I've been looking at this list daily and seeing how I'm doing. Some days are better than others; my goal after this month is to say I've made great improvements in all areas of this list.
Thank you Lord!!
