Feeling Silly

less than an hour????????

Yesterday my husband and me bought a new barbecue; we had given the old one to our son when he moved out a few weeks ago. It had served us well, but he likes to barbecue too so we figured might as well not move that one, let him have it and buy a new one when we get settled in.

Its coming summertime and the weather has been hot here so naturally we want to barbecue. We found one we liked a week ago and decided to buy it yesterday and barbecue chicken for dinner last night.

The info at the store said "assembled in less than an hour". We thought "no problem"; we'll start it mid-afternoon and for sure we'll get it done in time for dinner.

My husband has put together lots of things and is good at it. It took him over 3 hours. The directions were messed up and unclear and several things he had to disassemble because he had put them on backwards due to uncertainty on what the pictures showed or what the words said.

We had fun though; this is the first project in our almost 28 years of marriage that I helped him with. My help was keeping him company, getting the right screws, nuts, bolts, parts for him, being his runner if he needed something and getting him cool drinks. We had some good laughs; a nice way to spend the afternoon.

And the chicken????? Well, by the time we got it together it was after 6 p.m. and because we hadn't had lunch, we decided to make the chicken tonight so we went to Del Taco instead.

So, my advice; if they say "less than an hour to assemble", don't believe them.
