Feeling Determined
My new "old" room
After 4 years of having a room packed to the gills with boxes, a rolled up rug and just general junk and clutter, in March I finally hired someone to "help" me get it cleaned out. My family was amazed.....wanting to know what I did with all that stuff. My husband envisioned a music room (mind you the only musical instrument in the house is his guitar) He would like for me to buy and learn to play the piano, but I had another plan.
In my Mother's storage barn sat my Grandmother's pie safe. It was built by my Grandfather. My cousins and I ate many homemade cookies taken from a tin kept there. It is old, partially painted and was covered in years of dirt, cobwebs, bugs and just general grime. Although not pretty to some eyes, it holds many memories for me.
After Mother and I cleaned it out, I had a grandson and his friend bring it to my house where I gave it a good "washing down" careful not to erase important things like paint can stains and old fingerprints. (some of those fingerprints could belong to my Daddy who has been gone since 1988) I knew exactly what I wanted to do. I want EVERYTHING in this room to have a story and a memory.
It is a quiet room. No TV, no telephone and I fought with myself to keep a clock out of there. I'm fighting still to keep out all things that do not fit my plan for this room.
Everyone needs a retreat....and this is mine.

Good News
We got the call from the Church........THE FAMILY IS OK. There was no cell phone coverage in the mountains where they were. They have checked into the hotel for the night.
Thank You for your prayers.

Feeling Sad
Prayers
The children of a young couple (Vince and Kelly) in our church left Friday with Grandparents for an annual vacation. Their destination (as usual) was not known but the usual arrival phone call didn't happen. As of this morning this young couple do not know where their children and Kelly's parents are.
The hotel where they are to stay tonight is known and messages have been left there. We are all praying that it is just an oversight that they haven't called and all is well.
Kelly is a nervous wreck. Every woman in the church left in tears after hearing Vince's plea for prayers.
I am asking for prayers for this family.

Inspired
I was inspired this morning by Mosie's victory in her search for the lost beer stein. Believing my husband to be unusual I discovered he isn't. There are other men out there that have a stash of knives too.
After I took these pictures I found three more knives and three more cases in one of his junk drawers. (and I thought I had everything together) The cases are NEVER used and most often get thrown away.
To Him it's a collection...to Me it is clutter.

Topsy Turvy Update
Keeping the plant watered has become quite a chore for me. In years past it would have been no big deal.....but not this year. This year I'm doubly thankful it is near the house.
A tomato on the porch is worth two in the garden!

A Cautious Return

After being without a camera for a while, I finally had someone help me make the decision and here it is..............A Canon PowerShot G9. I needed something that would think for me and take excellent shots without much effort on my part. I hope I got the right camera.
I have not been well and am barely reading my alerts, however I have high hopes of all that changing. As soon as someone can find out what's wrong with me and fix it, I'll be back into the journaling world.

Frustration-Confusion
My camera died. It was a Kodak EasyShare C330. I didn't like the delay between pressing the button and the flash. It caused me and others to miss a lot of good shots.
ANY SUGGESTIONS FOR A REPLACEMENT?

Out and About
Some days I have no control of my activity! I knew at the outset that yesterday was one of those days. It was a fairly decent day temperature wise, with cloudy skies and a shower now and then. Too wet to have employees come in, so it was just us to do what we could for "the business".
We started with a little personal pleasure...breakfast out for me and a haircut for him. Then on to a day of driving for both of us.....MOVING EQUIPMENT.
I decided that while I was being held captive in the vehicle, I would make the most of my day by taking pictures to show the sights we saw.
No housework done....no office work done....A day to be recovered.

Coffee Cups
Over my long coffee drinking years I have managed to collect quite a few mugs without even trying. Some have been gifts and some came with sets of dishes. And, oh yes, there are some that I have bought for myself.
In the first picture you see my favorite cups. But not for the reason you think. Although the sentiment is nice, I like these cups because they have a little lip around the top that keeps away that UGLY coffee drip that try's to run down the side of the cup.
