Calm and Storms

boldiniturner.jpgI love the way this Boldini diva fits so perfectly against this Turner landscape. When I get to the Afterlife for Artists, I will either be surrounded by hugs for all the homage or stoned for the most egregious run of unapologetic plagiarism ever devised.  I like to think that that the Hy-Art serves to redeem all those hours at the computer learned how to use Photoshop while high, some of it in the service of forgery.

I have a confession. I secretly love natural disasters.  When they show that hurricane tracking across the Gulf Coast, I get a thrill.  I ache for another earthquake. Tornados turn me on.  I can't help it, it's the grandest theater on the planet, Mother Nature putting on a production that puts all the extravaganzas of Broadway to shame.  And here's the thing: I know you do too. I know we all get a frisson of excitement when we see "Stormwatch" across the screen. I'm not the only one who watch "MegaDisasters."

Oddly though,  you can't get me on a rollercoaster. What's that about?

Steven had a great first day of freedom--you can read about it on Prison's a Bitch.

Tomorrow I drive up to Chico to see my sister and little niece and nephew in a play. Yes, that's "drive up."  Once I committed to the bus, David saw that it made little sense for me to add 3+ hours both way and told me to use the car.

I'll borrow Sam Harris' sign off: "Do something wonderful for someone today."

Ahhh, see somehow I knew David would say to use the car, but glad you two worked it out in your manner!

This hy-art is great, something just draws me into it further.  And, it reminds me of the Titanic.  The dark, the depth, the classic lady, and the dark grey boats and water.  Of course, I watched the last half of that movie recently, so that could be why, combined with your mention of natural disasters.  I love a good hurricane, frankly.  I prefer them be only level 1's when coming MY way, admittedly.  Those are wicked enough.  Wicked cool but still dealable.

Forgot to mention that I like the Hy-Art for today; she's so beautiful and the perfect foil for the dark and mysterious landscape.--Sheria

Like most people, I monitor the events, watching news stories and the little crawl across the bottom of the screen during my favorite television program. However, I get really annoyed when my favorite program is repeatedly interrupted to bring me breaking news on the disaster which usually consists of some poor reporter standing out in the street with wind and rain whipping around him or her, shouting into a microphone about the hurricane force winds. I want them to schedule the mega disaster news for commercial breaks.

However, my guilty secret pleasure is that I like to watch true crime stories about serial killers. I am adicted to the Investigation Discovery network and never miss an episode of "Most Evil."

Oh, and I don't do rollercoasters. When I was 20, I went on my last rollercoaster ride. I made a promise to God that if she let me survive the ride that I would never, ever get on another rollercoaster. It's one of the few promises to God that I've actually kept.--Sheria
