My Very First Christmas Ball
I think I mentioned before that my tree was artificle, so it's energy would have to be made by whatever I chose to add to it. So far, my little Charlie Brown tree is really pretty. I'm now up to 4 ornaments. I've got a Raven's Santa Hat. I've got a Christmas Border Collie (to which I added Dot's name and the year). I've got a Christmas Pickle made of handblown glass in Poland. But the one that really jump started the tree was this one:

It is certainly the least jolly ornament. In fact, some might say it's down right ugly. What is it you ask? It's a 44 year old snowball. You can see that over the past 4 1/2 decades most of it's "fuzzies" have worn off. However, this ornament is rather dear to me because it is my first Christmas Ball ever. I was only 9 months old when I assumed ownership of it, and it's a key factor of my childhood memories. Why? Because there is more to this snowball than meets the eye.

Over the years, the arms had to be sewed back on, and it's little nose has been missing almost as long as I can remember. But I remember my delight every Christmas when I would "find" it again with the rest of the decorations. I would pop it open and pull out the little doll and play with it until the tree came down and everything got put away.
Thanks, Ma, for hanging on to this.
