Hearing Kingdom of the Spiders

You Won't Believe This...

As I mentioned in the coffee post, Ma and I took a shopping excursion today, the "highlight" of which was Wal Mart.  As I expected, the parking lot was overflowing and there were so many people walking and not watching where they were going one couldn't go faster in a vehicle than about 3mph.  But we ended up with a parking space right in the front and our good luck didn't end there.  Despite the filled parking lot, the inside of the store wasn't so crowded.  And for once, we didn't encounter a single mean person.

It wasn't until we got back out to the car that thought my luck had changed, for I reached into my pockets and discovered I had no keys.  Fortunately, our car can't be locked without the keys (a feature I'm rather fond of).  I had left my jacket in the backseat and figured that's where the keys were.  However, they weren't.  I panicked for a few seconds, not wanting to let on to Ma that we might be stranded.   Then, still leaning over in the backseat with my jacket in my hands I peered between the front seats and saw that I had left the keys in the ignition.  In other words, I had left the keys in the ignition of my unlocked car on the parking lot at Wal Mart.

Oh wait, it gets better.

When I went to grab the keys, I discovered that not only had I left them there, I had left the engine running as well.  It runs quiet, so I hadn't noticed it initially.  Luckily, Ma didn't catch on to that part or I'd still be hearing about it now and into next freakin' year.

The miracle is, the car was still there after we spent over an hour in the store.  I mean, I know this is godforsaken Hanover, Pennsylvania and all but there is still a criminal element here (as there is everywhere).  Our local paper carries a police blotter as well as mug shots of current local "fugitives" just like every other newspaper.

There's really only one thing that explains it...

Peace on Earth.  Goodwill toward men.

Great day!  I did that once.  We went to KFC and with getting 2 kids out of the van and being very hungry, I just forgot.  Glad your day went so well.
